THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Bos, I've been trying to get hold of a copy of that film for ages - where did you find it?

Just one thing - I'll need it in Betamax format if that's ok.

bosley - 10 Aug 2006 13:23 - 5057 of 81564

blimey, alan, give it a chance!! soul, i wouldn't bother. it was crap.

been having a little debate with myself all morning. if i was due to go to america today/tomorrow, would i still go in light of this morning's events? to not go means the bastards have won and that shouldn't be allowed to happen, but, would you really put your family at risk just to prove a point???

ps, apologies for lowering the tone

The wife and kids flew to meet me in the middle east a week or two after 9/11. She did it on the basis that they would know nothing about it and everyone would go together!! ('cept me).
You all know my thoughts on the good ol' US of A, so the prospect of setting off for america and not actually getting there does have its upside (just).
The other thing is the thought of spending the rest of my life on an aeroplane is just horrendous. the fact that the rest of my life would be measured in minutes is little comfort.

Bos, it won't help with the moral side of the debate, but I once had a lecturer at Uni who insisted on visiting tourist destinations (Egypt, at the time) right after news of some terrorist atrocity because firstly travel and accomm were cheap and secondly you wouldn't be fighting thousands of other tourists to get to the attractions.

My view is that security is never higher at airports, etc., than in the couple of days directly after an attack, so it's quite possible that you and the Boslets couldn't be safer.

PS I won't hear that about "Happy Ever After". My local takeaway owner has watched it 27 times.

soul, it all worked out quite well in the end :))

Just heard that John Terry is to take over David Beckhams role in the England team.
Does that mean he has to start playing crap and missing penalties?
Shame. Good player, john terry.

They really did all live happily ever after?

The title kind of gives the ending away then . . . .

And we thought Bollywood was bad enough - now we have revenge of the Vietnamese soppy movie industry.

hewittalan6 - 10 Aug 2006 17:39 - 5063 of 81564

Help me out here, guys.
i can't work out the answer to the following;

Is this a rhetorical question?

bosley - 10 Aug 2006 20:24 - 5064 of 81564

Reminds me of something I was reading in a local rag today, referring to a council chappie called Mustapha Butt.

You really couldn't make it up.

bosley - 11 Aug 2006 08:35 - 5069 of 81564

hewittalan6 - 11 Aug 2006 08:36 - 5070 of 81564

And top of the morning to you, too, Bos.
BTW. You were right, God damn you. I was a day too early bemoaning the lack of rise on HYC's golden cross!!!
1-0 to Bos.

alan, it's still too early. give it a few months.

soul traders - 11 Aug 2006 11:33 - 5072 of 81564

Al, re your post 5064 (if you really want to know): it would have been a rhetorical question, but for the fact you are asking us for an answer. So it was. But now it isn't and ohmygoshineedmorecoffee . . . . . . .

chocolat - 11 Aug 2006 12:03 - 5073 of 81564

hewittalan6 - 11 Aug 2006 12:08 - 5074 of 81564

ST,
The thread is called the Talk to yourself thread, so was I asking you all the question or was I talking to the multitude of voices in my head???
Alan

Can the voices in your head send e-mails too?
