From the latest company's drilling update....17 Feb
http://moneyam.uk-wire.com/cgi-bin/articles/200402170700084897V.html
Can anyone with mining knowledge explain these terms....
What does sidetracking mean? Approx how ong will that take?
Approx. how long will it take to correct a deviated section?
Is 'crude oil in shale samples' a good indication that there is oil?
Is 'Gas-bearing porous sands being logged' a good indication that there is gas?
Basically what does logging involve ?
Any views re AEX potential??
Regards
Stephen

Well 35p or 55p before Xmas, really does not matter. With this one you need to be a long term investor to get the highest benefit. I am taking a long-term view about the prospect of this company. if you look at companies like SOCO, DANA PETROLIUM, BURREN and others and go back few years you will see where they stood and where they are now. Especially with SOCO INTERNATIONAL, I know of some people who bought them at 30p few years back, and now, it is trading at 7 and is expected to double within 12 months. Some of those same people have heavily invested on Aminex, and have predicted the sp to double every three months, until it crosses the 1 mark, mind you they have bought in between 9/11p starting from August this year. My understanding is that they consider Aminex to be the next SOCO. After looking at their track record I genuine believe Aminex will be our soco in future. However it will not be easy ride, there are some rough and bumpy rides ahead. Once the Koreans political situation improves and foreign investment moves in, the long term investors will see the real benefit. The potential for this share is enormous. Pls, DYOR.

Six-Party Talks on North Korea Turn Sour
By KWANG-TAE KIM, Associated Press Writer
31 minutes ago
BEIJING - Talks on North Korea's nuclear programs turned sour Thursday as Pyongyang demanded that Washington lift sanctions against firms suspected of weapons proliferation and stop accusing the North of counterfeiting U.S. money, news reports said.
North Korean delegates accused the United States of undermining a September agreement in which Pyongyang pledged to disarm in exchange for aid and security guarantees, the South's Yonhap news agency reported, citing unidentified officials.
The North also voiced displeasure over President Bush's reference to a "tyrant" in North Korea widely seen as a slap at its leader, Kim Jong Il, Yonhap said.
The disputes cast a pall over the talks between the two Koreas, the United States, China, Japan and Russia. South Korean officials told Yonhap that progress had become difficult.
The U.S. negotiator, Assistant Secretary of State Christopher Hill, said the demands fell beyond the scope of the six-party talks.
"They made clear that they are not happy," Hill said late Thursday. "But I made very clear that I don't do financial sector regulations."

Price might slip a little bit more tomorrow again as Greyhound mentioned earlier with situations at the talks. Perhaps we'll see a good entry point for me and some of you to top up!

This was more or less what was expected from the current session as Hill puts it ""I don't think we are here now to make a roadmap," Hill said. "We only have a three-day session, so essentially we are just gathering ideas and having an opportunity to discuss the ideas, but we are not trying to come to any final decisions."
As I said earlier it will be more of a huffing & puffing this time, unless obviously the Chinese decide to provide the cold water reactor for the N.Koreans, which has been rumored, but in my opinion very unlikely at present time. The position however might change later if things dont progress in the next round of talks.

Text of China's statement from North Korea
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
Text of the statement issued Friday by China at talks in Beijing on North Korea's nuclear program:
The first session of the fifth round of the six-party talks was held in Beijing from Nov. 9-11, 2005. The parties conducted serious, pragmatic and constructive discussions and put forward proposals on how to implement the joint statement of the fourth round of the six-party talks.
The parties reaffirmed that they would fully implement the joint statement in line with the principle of "commitment for commitment, action for action," so as to realize the verifiable denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula at an early date and contribute to lasting peace and stability of the Korean Peninsula and Northeast Asia.
The parties emphasized that they are willing to comprehensively implement the joint statement through confidence building, carry out all commitments in different areas, commence and conclude the process in a timely and coordinated manner and achieve balanced interests and win-win result through cooperation.
The parties agreed to formulate concrete plans, measures and steps to fulfill the joint statement in accordance with the aforementioned spirit.
The parties agreed to hold the second session of the fifth round of six-party talks at the earliest possible date.

Looks like the trend is repeating itself, its on its way up again after a drop of 20% from 30p. Some people have realised it and are buying. I say good luck to them. If only I had some extra funds.............

Simon Cawkwell (EK) had posted this on ADVFN
I have had this explained to me. The target is 100p a year from now.
I am no oil man (though, of course, I'm oil man) and I have to take on board the argument with a fair degree of trust chucked in. But the story seems astonishingly attractive and I for one reckon that the North Koreans really cannot be dense indefinitely about developing their economy.
Another heavyweight known as emptyend whom I respect and value his comments very highly had this to say
My own expectation, though, is that 100p will not take a year.....more like 9 months, I think ....as noted here: By late summer I think the DPRK talks direction will be clear and it is quite possible that AEX will become a hotly contested bid situation [with the Chinese, Russians, Japanese and South Koreans all involved, as well as various European surrender monkeys!].
I hope they will not mind me copying there comments on this board.
All we need now is some good RNS on the political front or on the drilling side for AEX to do what VOG is doing at present, nearly trebled in two days.
