THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Life president mate.
An honorific in respect of my sterling work on Liverpool tram timetables 1935-1937.

Now I've come over all unnecessary.
Going to calm myself down by sorting my collection of famous toast slices from around the world.

Ahhhh.
This was the third in the famous fake trilogy.
We had one with the face of Christ on it, then one with the face of Mother Theresa and finally this one featuring Mr Bean. All fake of course, but worth around 30 to an avid collector.
I once found one very similar in a packet of assorted slices I sent for from the magazine "simply Toast", on approval. Lucky find.
Anyway, back to my parallel universe.
Alan

Nice robot, Bosley, but I can't agree that one would be the perfect solution around the home - personally I think a nice wife would be much more comfortable for putting one's feet up on after she's finished pouring the beer.

bosley - 22 Aug 2006 12:37 - 5190 of 81564

i bet the robot would be a "handy" companion if you were watching some porn though ;)

hewittalan6 - 22 Aug 2006 12:40 - 5191 of 81564

Metal fatigue.

I thought I lived in slightly strange world, but it is nothing compared to the one inhabited by OFCOM.
They have banned scenes from Tom & Jerry that show tom smoking, in case it encourages the children.
I can see their point. In the summer months, you cannot move around here for kids blowing each other up, like Jerry does, or hitting each other in the face with a frying pan.
Get real, for gawds sake. Its a cartoon and the kids watching it are obviously far more sophisticated than OFCOM.

Doesn't Tom's cigar then explode in his face anyway?

I seem to remember early T&J cartoons also featured a big, fat, Afro-American maid - bet they don't show those ones any more either!

hewittalan6 - 22 Aug 2006 14:02 - 5197 of 81564

And now Scooby Doo, cos Fred smokes a pipe!!!!!
AAAAAGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bos, all right, you win, it's the robot.

Although I think a pair of stick-on false eyelashes would be an improvement.

Al, round our way the kids have figured out how to drop a grand piano off a rooftop and have it only fall towards you if you look at it.

hewittalan6 - 22 Aug 2006 14:09 - 5200 of 81564

Very usefull skill, that.
Can they run off cliff edges, like Wile Coyote and not fall until they look down and then wave for the camera.
I mean, Tom & Jerry. What would childhood be without Tom & Jerry?
If they are going to edit out scenes that are not PC, what about the stereotypical Deep South Housemaid, or the gratuitous violence, or the hourglass females and the way Tom forces his affections on them with sexual harrassment.
Rape, racism and violence are now things of the past in our society and all the worlds ills can now be sorted by stopping kids having a swift Woodbine and coughing up bits of lung. You ask OFCOM.

soul traders - 22 Aug 2006 14:11 - 5201 of 81564

I saw a lot of Wile E Coyote when I was younger. I think it's a subliminal message by Islamic terrorist organisations, telling kids that dynamite can solve all your problems.
