Actually you may have noticed that I have not posted there (HNR) for a while, because I am out although I do still track it.
I was playing with profit and decided it was better off here, that was after Tevet2 stuck the top layer of Tevet 1 oil again.
I don't feel inclined to go back in at all.
Sterling has the better deal at the moment and I could not see any point in being double risked in the way I was with Sterling and Hardman any longer.
I am very critical of the selection of targets this drill round, very unimpressive.
There are more to be drilled in areas outside of Sterling's remit after Labeidna, so I feel protected beyond that.
I know things can change quickly but, I am prepared to let that go this time.

Don`t know if this is the one refered to September 23rd note
Sensitivity using an oil price of $50/bbl (five year forward curve) raises our core
NAV from 19p/share to 26p/share, and core plus risked EMV to nearer 50p/share

Interesting to read the Premier take on the latest drilling update - slight difference in emphasis to the Hardman report. The dreaded words 'plugged and abandoned'.

('Premier')
Mauritania Drilling Update
Premier reports the following in relation to its operations in PSC Area B
offshore Mauritania.
The 'Stena Tay' rig drilled Labeidna-1 to the final total depth of 3080 metres
where the acquisition of wireline logs, including downhole pressure measurements
and fluid sampling, commenced.
A preliminary evaluation of these data indicates that the well intersected an
oil-bearing interval comprising an interbedded series of thin sands and
claystones. Late on 14 November 2005, the collection of oil samples was
underway. Additional wireline logs will be acquired to quantify the significance
of this discovery. A further announcement will be made when this analysis has
been completed.
Following wireline logging, the well will be plugged and abandoned as planned.
Good to note in the Hardman announcement that the Berg Helene has arrived on station.

It appears PMO is doing 'well' today on update after the sell off yesterday, but SEY is having a minor sell day. A few panickers no doubt.

At last!
Berge Helene on site and mooring, the start of a run here in due course I would hope.
Chinguetti Development Update
The Berge Helene FPSO has arrived on location at the Chinguetti oil field in
Mauritania and has commenced connection to the permanent moorings. This will be
followed by a series of activities including hookup and commissioning of water,
gas and oil systems. As previously announced first oil is expected in February
2006.

Nothing to worry about today. Did anyone spot that late buy mopping up all today's loose stock? Another 2.8 million shares now in safe hands.

Article here talking about some Chinese majors looking to form some joint ventures in Madagascar. Very briefly mentions the SEY/Exxon deal.
"HONG KONG (Dow Jones)--Chinese oil majors are looking at forming upstream joint ventures in Madagascar to exploit newly discovered reserves on the island situated off Africa's east coast, says a senior official at Madagascar Oil S.A.
More than one Chinese oil firm has approached Madagascar Oil about the possibility of cooperating in oil exploration and taking a stake in the company, which was founded in 2004 and is eyeing a listing in London in the second quarter next year, said the official who asked not to be named.
"They (the Chinese companies) have very deep pockets. I prefer to work with them on the heavy oil projects because those are very capital intensive," the person said, but declined to name the Chinese companies that are in talks with the African oil company.
ExxonMobil Corp. (XOM), Sterling Energy PLC (SEY.LN) and Aminex PLC (AEX.DB) have already formed joint ventures with local partners since 2001 to develop oilfields on the island and offshore. Madagascar is expected to produce its first barrel of crude in 2007."
