Rockhopper was established in 2004 with a strategy to invest in and undertake an offshore oil exploration programme in the North Falkland Basin. It was floated on AIM in August 2005. Rockhopper was the first company to make a commercial oil discovery in the Falklands. Today Rockhopper is the largest acreage holder in the North Falkland Basin, with interests in the Greater Mediterranean region.

Looks like they are going into production and will need to raise over a billion pounds.
Should not be difficult.
I wonder if they will issue more shares to the big investors they will need (probably) or take a partner via a farm in.
No doubt we will soon know the answer.

Merchant Securities analyst Brendan Long today urged investors to look to the positives when considering Rockhopper Exploration (LON:RKH). We believe that it is very easy to be critical of early stage development plans which are by their nature preliminary and subject to change, the analyst said.

We prefer that management focuses attention on the appraisal drilling rather than fine tuning (costing etc.) hypothetical development plans. They have years to iron out the details. It is very possible that another company takes over operatorship for the development stage.

Therefore we do not understand the criticisms we believe have had a negative share price effect. At this stage the subsurface information is most important, and the news is good.

With that amount of oil in the ground, someone will one day certainly find a way of bringing it to the surface, and it may very well be with the involvement of another company. I reckon I'm still young enough for that to happen in my lifeltime, so I'm staying put.

When our troop's left for the Falkand's , and all the people at Portsmouth were cheering and the band's were playing. I thought to myself what a lot of fuss , all that will happen is it will all settled by negotiation, never thought there would be a war.

markymar - 17 Sep 2011 20:07 - 5271 of 6294

You have Maggie to thank for that...... the Iron Lady at least she stood her ground.

aldwickk - 18 Sep 2011 12:59 - 5272 of 6294

If she was in power , would we still be in the EU or have spent 10 years in Iraq and Afghanistan ? Would she have overthrown Mugabe .
