The South Falklands could have over 100 billion recoverable barrels. Thats the potential.
And its all owned by just 2 companies :) !!!!!!

Presumably the Sun has a contact down there or better still has one of its reporters sniffing around Stanley. Let's hope they are right, in which case these shares will go through the roof. Good luck to one and all!

One thing is for sure, if there is a huge oil strike then many many AIM oilers will see a huge exodus of cash as people sell to jump on to the BOR and FOGL bandwagon for a new oil frontier, perhaps the biggest new frontier in the world (potential 100 billion recoverable barrels in all of BOR's and FOGL's licenses).
This news is going to upset many many AIM oiler stock holders - but not BOR and FOGL ones :) !!

Across the road : they are a few having doubts as well it seems,....what is unusual is the update of the article by the sun's writer......must be very, very confident in his sources.....not really like a national newspaper to go out of the way to publish nonsense....they might with whom slept with whom sort of stuff (that goes with tabloid press0,...but the city, financial goings-on.....not so I would think.....very good chance of the information being correct.....still can't make my mind up.....everybody is expecting a rns tomorrow morning : if there isn't one...the sp will jump up regardless.......fingers crossed.....I'm prepared for disappointment....

OIL or GAS find?
Borders & Southern to Announce Falklands Gas Find,
Times Reports - By Jesse Westbrook - Apr 22, 2012 9:43 AM
Borders & Southern Petroleum Plc (BOR), a U.K. energy explorer operating in the Falkland Islands, may announce a gas find within days, the Sunday Times said, citing an unidentified person close to the company.
The gas discovery was made at a well about 100 miles southeast of the Falklands that Borders & Southern began drilling in January, the newspaper reported. Borders & Southern declined to comment on whether it found gas reserves, the Sunday Times said.
Borders & Southern shares jumped 55 percent on April 18 amid speculation the company had made a discovery.

gas is most assuredly not oil though it is better than nothing ..... however, i would expect sp to tumble pretty badly, but could be proved wrong ..... how fogl will react is even less certain

Lovely - a condensate discovery and massive one as well, no wonder BOR are pleased to announce it !
http://www.investegate.co.uk/Article.aspx?id=201204230700178142B
Condensate sells for a premium to Brent Crude.
A billion barrels of condensate - well ........... worth even more than a billion barrels of API32 crude.
The Times was half right, The Sun was half right.
Its not dry gas as The Times could have been taken for, and its not Crude Oil that The Sun said - however, its liquid gasoline in effect - more valuable than Brent crude and 26 square kilometers of it with very thick net pay.
Well done BOR and all !! no need to build an LNG plant like those East African finds - this comes out as condensate, beautiful !! :)
Opens the basin and not only wonderful news for BOR, but great news for FOGL with now a proven working hydrocarbon system in the South Falklands for the first time.

i know i am singularly stupid, but how can GAS condensate be more valuable than oil?

Hey...it says pay zone and liquid content.....it does not mention what kind of liquid ...so ?...gas or oil...is it me or am I not reading this right ?...condensate is expensive I know that....

Top of reservoir is Gas condensate deeper in the basin will be oil .........
