Rockhopper was established in 2004 with a strategy to invest in and undertake an offshore oil exploration programme in the North Falkland Basin. It was floated on AIM in August 2005. Rockhopper was the first company to make a commercial oil discovery in the Falklands. Today Rockhopper is the largest acreage holder in the North Falkland Basin, with interests in the Greater Mediterranean region.

This well is designed to investigate reservoir and hydrocarbon presence within the Sea Lion Main Complex in an area of relatively low amplitudes and is also an exploration well on both the Casper and Kermit oil prospects,

We Believe Rockhoppers Estimates are Conservative
On 2 June 2010, RPS (a third party engineering consultancy) assumed a P50 areal estimate for SL10 and SL20 of 27km2. Rockhopper's current mid case estimate is 68 km2, a 150% increase from the RPS estimate.
In its June 2010 report, RPS estimated a best estimate oil in place of 717Mb, using probabilistic techniques. We have applied their input data into a simple deterministic (non-statistical) model which suggests that deterministically the mid case estimate of oil in place would be circa 674Mb.
Using the 674Mb as a starting point and increasing it by 150% gives 1,685Mb of oil in place. This is substantially higher than Rockhopper's current mid case estimate of oil in place of 1,086Mb.

I'm sitting on a loss and will sit through these bad times......but better times will return for 95% of stocks.....just a matter of time and there still may be a substantial autumn-christmas advance on today's values coming.....we just need the markets to stabilise instead of all this blinkin' greece crap that's pulling the markets down...

halifax - 04 Oct 2011 16:26 - 5309 of 6294

rf so you don't believe in stop losses.

required field - 04 Oct 2011 16:32 - 5310 of 6294

I do for very, very risky positions or stocks,...I get caught out in the belief that the markets are undervalued and stay put on positions when perhaps I should sell even at a loss..but then again I hate making losses so I stay put...how do people manage with the 30 day rule ?....I'm baffled by people who say they have bought back the next day ?...how...?....still, staying put was not the best thing to do since the spring.....anyway,... is this one very risky ? not anymore...and the turmoil in the markets is not Rockhopper's fault ; they have not put a foot wrong since they started drilling 18 months ago...

Good, old fashion 'seat of your pants' investor/trader! ;o)

I'm keeping the faith with my stocks....fingers crossed, a very strong rebound will come..the markets cannot remain subdued for much longer...upwards gravity has to come into effect sooner or later...

dreamcatcher - 04 Oct 2011 16:38 - 5313 of 6294

Good luck

cynic - 04 Oct 2011 17:40 - 5315 of 6294

upwards gravity ..... now there's a new one indeed .... i know einstein's theory of relativity is now under question, but i had not realised that newton's law was too!

HARRYCAT - 04 Oct 2011 17:50 - 5316 of 6294

It's all about 'dark matter'. Probably Guinness in rf's case!

required field - 04 Oct 2011 19:16 - 5317 of 6294

Prefer good old english ale myself...I shall have to use this new term "upwards gravity" again...sounds good !....

cynic - 04 Oct 2011 19:40 - 5318 of 6294

gravitas and not frivolity is required :-)

required field - 04 Oct 2011 22:03 - 5319 of 6294

Einstein's theory is right; he just didn't know about the short cuts through other dimensions or perhaps he did but it would not come out in equations.

machoman - 05 Oct 2011 15:46 - 5322 of 6294

halifax - 07 Oct 2011 15:58 - 5324 of 6294

marky lets hope they can raise the $2billion needed to develop Sealion.

HARRYCAT - 07 Oct 2011 16:03 - 5325 of 6294

Not really expecting much though, are we, as these wells are only testing outer limits?
"......the next two (8 & 9) will be drilled in locations that allow them to explore the potential of Casper and Kermit. These last appraisal wells will delineate the Sea Lion main fan to the satisfaction of the CP and allow them to produce a CPR which reflects the Boards view of Proven and Probable reserves, which is the main hurdle for entry into the main market."
