NORTHERN PETROL ???? (NOP)

LEEWINK - 12 Aug 2003 11:59

looks like its hit oil, don't know whats gonna happen, any idea's ???

hightech - 15 Jul 2008 13:30 - 549 of 567

Any Idea why many oil producing companies are still down?????

They are cashing in all the money lost everywhere in the world, even in mortgages etc. The Oil companies could move up by 100-200% by the next year when they receive the money from selling oil at $146 these days.

Too cheap to ignore, IMO.

hangon - 24 Jul 2008 21:36 - 550 of 567

I can believe 100%....or hightech may be right: Yet Stocks look forward and (this one) is showing no signs of operating at full-bore yet awhile. The snag is that "oil-price" looks to fall (soonish?) and this "might" cut excitement.
Hence investors are only prepared to buy on weakness.

The good news is that NOP "reserves" are significantly greater than the sp, so if you believe rather conservative volume-estimates, then NOP is a no-brainer. (Incomes and profitability are calculated at $80/barrel, which is an industry benchmark.) . . . I hold this stock.

EDIT: Dir Buy is 30k, not quite my level of excitement (=50k+), but at least it's in the right direction. It may signal that no news is anticipated, but then in this industry things happen out of the blue.

NOP is still heading down with no news at all. Maybe the reserves are not significant enough.

hangon - 06 Oct 2008 13:32 - 552 of 567

The reason, IMHO is that delays are the cause - without extraction many will feel their "reserves" are all hot-air . . . . yet my understanding is that the reserves are understated.
What NOP failed to tell us is that the countries of Europe are notorious for creating delays, requiring lengthty investigations and so on.
NOP does have sufficient cash (I understand) ans this includes a recent sale of a potential gas-storage facility, which we learnt would have taken a large wad of cash to develop - - - funny how what is good is seen as not worth having....almost weeks later-on. However, this GS-sale did make a decent profit, so maybe you have to have regard to cash-flow as well.
Yes, I agree, the NOP graph is disapointing, but IF the reserves are as expected, then the correct price is about 2-3x current....
..Ah, but they would say that, wouldn't they?

Be comforted that most holders ( from the last 18-months) paid more than today's sp - so they are selling on fear, not on any knowledge - at least until the stuff starts to flow. Then we can measure the potential volume/price.

hlyeo98 - 06 Oct 2008 13:42 - 553 of 567

In this market, even with flow results, the rise would be negligible to the fall, let alone no news at all.

JRM - 05 Apr 2013 20:55 - 554 of 567

Once a Tom Winifrith dream stock............Where is it going??????????

I read an interesting story mid week that a large shareholder (5% plus) had written to the board demanding change.

Todays fall almost 10% caused bu small sales close to the end of trade ........

halifax - 17 Apr 2013 13:54 - 555 of 567

sp down 16% following RNS about Gyane drilling.

Not impressed by the speech, too quiet and the graphics are definitely Low Res, so it impossible to read the fine print . . . why do "Media Types" not understand the media?

The speaker needs to learn how to speak-up and maybe get off their chair.

Overall, I'm not impressed.
Huh.
With NOP shares at significantly low-levels, you'd think there might be some excitement, but none I could find...Huh, again.

Well, the sp movement says the Market doesn't like this stock.
Maybe recent Newsflow - is just "more of the same" as we've become used to jam tomorrow being replaced by "Jam soon" - several stocks are guilty of this - and maybe NOP is just another....
EDIT (15Dec2014)- No posters yet - I guess the sp is struck down by the price of Crude falling...maybe soon we'll see Fuel-Pump prices lowered - so consumers can have some glee.
EDIT ( 20Jan2015)- up slightly today to 9p3 - Oh deary, 'tis the Crude price methinks.
