New Biom Technologies (BIOM)

hangon - 16 Jul 2010 15:31

DYOR - - - - - - - - - Biom Technologies mid-July 2010 AIM
This is the new resting place for Stanelco, the wonder producer of starch-based food-trays...only they didn't catch on.Over the last 10 years to 2010 the 0.1p shares traded abour 2.5p then shot up to 24p during 2005 with promise of Tray-Trials I understand. Within a year or so, they fell to new depths and finished at 0.2p Of course they were full-list then and some were held in ISA's hoping there would be a big profit...only now these are distressed sales as the Company slunk off to AIM, presumably "...to provide better shareholder-value"
Perhaps someone closer to the Co. can explain why the new name is Biome
....rhymes with Home. Often it is done to remove the previous sp-history.
Could it be..so new investors can bask in ignorance, etc. I'm not aware of any "change" in fortune for SEO, rather the reverse.
In my limited experience, the longer the name of a company the longer you have to wait for any return...Huh . . . . . .
. SEO had been a terrible investment.
DYOR.
Can Biome be any worse...?
EDIT ( 24April2017)- "just woken up" -me not BIOME - sp is 154, but I note about June 2013 there was what looks like a CONsolidation . . do I recall many LT investors were sold-short?... as I believe the (new share) numbers were terrible! . . . Anyone?

Rumour,

I understand that Nick Clegg is joining the board as head of strategy.

kimoldfield - 29 May 2014 12:42 - 551 of 644

Excellent! He's bound to make some liberal changes! On the other hand....... :o)

greekman - 29 May 2014 16:29 - 552 of 644

Touché

greekman - 04 Jul 2014 16:32 - 553 of 644

No trades as yet all week, and yet some people still insist that there is a stake builder out there.

Seen more steak in a half eaten burger king.

kimoldfield - 04 Jul 2014 16:54 - 554 of 644

Really big news coming on Monday. Not sure which Monday or even which year but it is going to come as sure as eggs are acorns! :o)

greekman - 04 Jul 2014 17:09 - 555 of 644

Ah, Kim, I bet you are the shorter of Biome shares that's causing all the trouble.

I suppose you are waiting for them to reach that old 1p figure then you will buy up all the shares and become sole owner.

kimoldfield - 04 Jul 2014 17:24 - 556 of 644

Oh dear, I've been found out! :o)

greekman - 16 Jul 2014 07:31 - 557 of 644

On British Bulls.

Signal sign is to Quit.

Market Outlook

The system unfortunately ceased to analyze this security as of today since the data quality fell below the minimum standards for pattern recognition (that means so little interest in the share, even the system has given up).
This security will not be monitored until there is sufficient improvement in data quality. You have to sell all your long positions and focus your attention on other securities that are within the scope of our system.

Perhaps there are not enough people waking up and smelling the coffee (pods), or there again, perhaps they are.

The biggest problem with the RF technologies side of the business is they've tried to reinvent a technology which already existed by complicating matters... As for the plastics division its clear this stuff will never make it into food packaging, what other use might we have for such a biodegradable product? Their light years behind bags now and generally the consumer wouldn't be to happy watching their fixtures or fittings disappear... That said, I'm sure the bright sparks at Biome are currently trying to mass market garden furniture with their product..

kimoldfield - 16 Jul 2014 10:23 - 559 of 644

Well, I'm ready to buy a shed load of shares. Daniel Stewart have a target price of £4.37 on them. They are never wrong are they? BIOM's website declares that "Biome Technologies plc is a growth oriented, commercially driven technology group." That makes it a no brainer buy then right?! (Silence) :o)

Sill not looking....

Shortie - 16 Jul 2014 11:11 - 561 of 644

That type of advice would explain why Daniel Stewarts turnover has been in decline for the past few years along with it's profit / loss...

kimoldfield - 16 Jul 2014 11:22 - 562 of 644

Quite!

Skinny didn't see that! :o)

Nominated Adviser - Daniel Stewart & Co.

Call me a cynic, but you can't beat a company paid advisor when it comes to promoting a share price.

Just been reviewing the results from last March, reading all the figures and the wording it makes Biome look like a company going places, that is of course to someone not used to the Biome hype.

But the following were the main areas from the results that stood out for me, apart from the endless eating into cash left.

Competition

There is a risk that competitors may be able to develop products and services that are more attractive to customers than the Group's products and services, (is that why there re no orders since the Stanelco RF division 24/03/2014 with the previous being another contract for the same division on March 10th Jan 2012).

Commercialisation

There is a risk that the Group will not be successful in the commercialisation of its products from early-stage research and development to full-scale commercial sales (as we regularly read of Bio-degradable products being sold by other companies where Biome looked to be in the lead years ago, it looks like they were right there).

Customers

The Group's ability to generate revenues for a number of its products is reliant on a small number of customers (your telling me). If one of these was to significantly reduce its orders it could have a significant impact on the Group's results, (only relevant if there are orders).

Raw Materials

The Group is reliant on a few key suppliers to manufacture its products. If one of these was to cease supplying the market it could have a significant impact on the Group's ability to fulfil its orders, (again only relevant if there are orders).

Although the above are always risks to small companies, I have never seen these risks as part of results (has anyone else), of course my suspicious mind could think the ground was being prepared for future excuses.

I only ever look for the positives in the case of BIOM Greek, these of course being.....um.....er.......hmm, must be something here, ah yes!, um, oh....no. Oh well next time then!! :o)

kimoldfield - 23 Jul 2014 13:54 - 567 of 644

Quick, put the plug in! :o)

greekman - 23 Jul 2014 17:34 - 568 of 644

No point, as far as Biome is concerned the plug to their cash drain is bio-degradable.

kimoldfield - 23 Jul 2014 19:15 - 569 of 644

Well, if it is they can't sell that either!
