Rockhopper was established in 2004 with a strategy to invest in and undertake an offshore oil exploration programme in the North Falkland Basin. It was floated on AIM in August 2005. Rockhopper was the first company to make a commercial oil discovery in the Falklands. Today Rockhopper is the largest acreage holder in the North Falkland Basin, with interests in the Greater Mediterranean region.

"Did you ever venture into Tynemouth......"

I wasn't THAT brave!

greekman - 18 Nov 2011 11:07 - 5522 of 6294

Just a wild thought.

Could it be that the results of the Coring are so unbelievably good that even they find them hard to accept, so there double/triple checking.

All together now.......Always look on the bright side of life!

Note...The above may be more nearer the truth then we think!

markymar - 18 Nov 2011 11:34 - 5523 of 6294

Maybe more tests Greek so they can give more detail....great to have more meat on the bones something to chew on.

Avsec where your stomping ground?

greekman - 18 Nov 2011 16:44 - 5524 of 6294

Markymar,

Looks like your right re further testing.

Posted on another site.
This is obviously the reason why no RNS.

They didn't say further announcement in 7 days.

They said drilling will take a further 7 days

A further announcement will be made once coring is completed (no timescale mentioned on this) END

I usually pride myself on detail, but I must admit to adding 2 + 2 and getting 5 on the 7 day expected coring timescale meaning a RNS release in 7 days.
As we know coring completion, will mean logging the findings, so could be a few days yet.

Might be a third discovery by the look of it.....

Wonderful reaction by the market.....shouldn't this go up ?...not down....

greekman - 21 Nov 2011 11:00 - 5528 of 6294

I think the sp drop is due to the fact that most were expecting news similar to the updates we have had before following the coring, but the coring has to go for full, analysis. That should see the sp move back up.
Of course the general market malaise is not helping.

Rockhopper Exploration has confirmed that coring operations at well 14/10-9z have been successfully completed.

The sidetrack, well 14/10-9z, was drilled to a total depth of 2600m md. A total 60m of core was cut through Casper and Sea Lion bringing the total amount of core cut during the entire drilling campaign to 340m (1,115 ft) to date.

Additionally, a further set of formation pressure test points and samples were taken over the Kermit reservoir which indicate residual oil saturation.

The well will now be plugged and abandoned as planned and a further announcement will be issued on the spudding of the next well, located in licence PL004b (which Rockhopper has farmed into with operatorship and an aggregate 60% interest), which will target the most southerly extent of the SLMC and additionally the Beverley prospect.

Fracking oil anyone.

Having been invested in RKH for several years hoping to make my fortune (isn't that why we are all here), I could have perhaps invested in an oil discovery less than 2 miles from where I live, instead of an oil field several thousand miles away.

Rathlin Energy to drill for Yorkshire oil.

So should I sell my shares in Rockhopper or stick with them.
I suspect the Sealion and accompanying discoveries may be just a tad bigger, than the Bishop Burton field.

Rockhopper Exploration has announced that the 14/15-4 well was spudded on 28 November.

The Well is situated on Licence PL004b in which Rockhopper will earn a 60% interest by drilling 14/15-4. The Well is designed to investigate reservoir presence and hydrocarbon charge towards the southernmost mapped limit of the Sea Lion field .

The Company intends to drill to target depth then subsequently sidetrack to core should significant hydrocarbon charged reservoir be encountered in either the Sea Lion Main Complex or Beverley.

Initial drilling and logging operations are expected to take approximately 20 days and a further RNS will be issued prior to commencing any sidetrack.

The Company intends that 14/15-4 will be the final well it operates during the current drilling campaign.

Had a 'Newton' moment today when the apple came down - and Rockhopper went up! 253 at close I think!
