only 10.40am, over 6m shares traded so far are we about to breakout of this pennant. to the upside.

Fingers xxxd over the road did a very good TA of SEY last weekend. A very positive and encouraging read if you are into the charts and stuff - which I am. We should get to where we want to be by the end of the month.

Mauritania's state oil company said.
"It's started. All of the vents are open," Ismail Abdel Vetah, director of operations for Mauritania's national oil company SMH, told Reuters.
He said he expected the first cargo of 950,000 barrels of crude to be shipped between March 15-20.
State oil officials hope the barren nation, which straddles black and Arab West Africa, will be producing 300,000 barrels a day in three or four years time, once three other fields in the same basin as Chinguetti come on line.
Oil firms are also hunting onshore for crude in the massive Taoudeni basin under the country's eastern desert, which covers an area roughly the size of France. Discoveries there could dwarf the country's offshore potential, industry experts say.
Who is drilling in Taoudeni basin, who has the licences in that area?

I remember what must be decades ago, sww describing the virtues of his " chicken-brick " slow cooking process. I guess that SEY is the current subject in his cooker - long time in the pot, but succulent when it comes out.

Over the road on ADVFN I hear that an outfit called Baraka are in the frame. Its an Aussie outfit with a market cap of approx 23 millions. Some are touting it as a possible aquisition for SEY.
Edit: Possibly some Chinese outfits as well.

On second thoughts I will withdraw the analogy. I have witnessed smoking food and unfortunately burning oilfields. We do not wish to tempt fate, meanwhile it is still looking ok to me as a holder, though please Harry take Nigeria off the watch-list. The big multies are dashed good at it, leave it to them !

I have to agree, Nigeria seems to resemble a tinderbox at the moment, surely there are more stable places in Africa to look for oil?

I do wonder whether they wil seek any onshore blocks in Mauritania, as their relationship with the government may give them some leverage.

Nigeria has always been a challenging environment in which to do business, companies such as Shell & Unilever understand the nuancies, SEY culturewould have a huge learning-curve to come to terms with it.
If you have a weird sense of humour however, how about a Nigeria poison pill or rumours even to keep the vultures at bay.
SEY seem however to be comfortable with the Maur. authority, and more importantly the Mauritanians seem happy with SEY so I would not be surprised if discussion on extension of licenses was not being done.
The culture tends to support slow but long lasting business relations.

Prop - this share is being manipulated like crazy. As soon as 24p bid pops up, up comes an AT sale or three to knock it back down again. Excuse my conspiracy theorist mind, but I honestly reckon that a bid could be on the way and by keeping the price down, the bidder is keeping the take out price down. Egg on face if I am wrong, but someone is keeping the lid on the price for a purpose. If they do allow it to rise then I reckon we could be looking at a swift jump to 30p (err... wishful thinking again?)

No Pondy - I have seen some stuff on this today, and I tend to agree with you.

I thought all last year the same thing was happening, and lets be fair once 17p was got the better of, it did rise to a swift 24 ish area.

If it is being held down, it can't last, one bit of news and it will take off imo.

If the scenario you speculate on contains any fact at all, and if I was HW, I would hasten out some news to try and drive the price higher before they can make their move.

I have always been a tad uncomfortable about the size of the Amevscap stake, but I guess HW knows about it, and possibly their intentions too.

i will do some market digging tomorrow...there may be a 17p placement holder dumping creating an overhang...
