Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).
Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.
cheers GF.

Driver, the dvdactive website has the words "unlimited hope" in the
header, that definitely relates to my portfolio!
Alan, have you left the m off the end of 2.53?

A cautionary tale! Whilst out doing my bit for the household finances I phoned my wife to ask her to make a purchase of 500 RBS through my Nominee a/c. She dutifully did this at 20.46092 per share, "luvvly jubbly" thought I: unfortunately she was unaware that the computer has a tendency to autofill amounts. The share price will have to be 21.19 before I begin to regain the loss I made selling back the additional 4500 shares she bought!!!!!!!

I was just musing, over the weekend, how my portfolio was sailing gracefully through the rough waters of the slump / downturn / correction / crash / slide (delete as applicable) when lo and behold I have taken a right pasting today.
Still, I have my summer jaunt(s) booked to sunny climes, where margin calls and stop losses are but a distant memory.
So I am strangely happy, despite my imminent destitution.

I have stuck some tape on my screen over one of the few blue shares I have left now......RBS. The last thing I want to hear is my wife saying "But I knew what I was doing, so how much profit have we made on RBS today, must be thousands"!!!!! :o(

Yes, I have a Mac! Sometimes autofill turns off, today....no such luck. I trade online because of max commission 25. Sadly I was over my trading limit when I had to sell, having done earlier trades, so I had to sell over the phone; commission....?..........184! Sh1t!

Once again I find I have been given a different script to the rest of the planet......so it is time for a rant. Out comes the soap box.
There a loads of good reasons for banning smoking in public. The health of non smokers is not one of them. No study has ever been able to show a significant causal link between health and passive smoking. Ever.
Yet on 1st July GB becomes smoke free.
At the same time a report today calls for a shake up of the drugs laws. It calls for many drugs to be legalised and for public money to build shooting galleries where users can go to take drugs, be it smoking pot or mainlining heroin. In the same report it classes tobacco and alcohol as dangerous drugs, but does not offer to build smoking shelters. Slight duality of thought there, perhaps.
It also calls for addicts to be GIVEN, as part of their rehabilitation, houses and jobs.
In summary, legal and government sponsored substances are being demonised while illegal, criminal sponsored substances are being cannonised, promoted and the lifestyles of those who choose to use them (and by extension the suppliers) being subsidised.
If the report were written by the triads or yardies I would not be suprised.
My head hurts.

Tobacco certainly is being demonised.
I heard it said that if smoking "behind the bikesheds" was not so "bad" then perhaps drugs may not have caught on to the degree they have.
I await the time when alcohol is similarly treated
Then of course there is the taxation raising issue
