The end of day spread at 29.25 - 29.5 is misleading. The real figure at 4.30 was 28.75 - 29. Not that I am complaining. The closing auction trade was at 29.25 so this augurs well for next week. AMVESCAP must be continuing to accumulate and the price is going higher to find fresh sellers. I am convinced that we are approaching the end game with this.

Wouldn't like it to end so soon Pond Life, I think a new oil find would be better first. Then there would be huge gains here.

I don't agree that this share is approaching the 'end game', check out the charts the strength of the shares are still steadily rising and it is not the agressive type of rise, its rising with confidence, knowing that it has a long way to go yet...

With profit lining up to be 24m thats not including the price of oil currently at the mo nor the prospects of possible find in Iraq, the potential of this company is enormous....AVZ have not been investing for fun !

You should look and compare with the likes of JKX and Dragon Oil, these few years ago were something like 50p and look at them now

add in madagasca and tiouf as well as a few otheirs and you can see why it might hit the 1 mark by end of year

and that aint a ramp thats a fact as far as i can see

I think by "end game" Pondy is referring to a takeover of SEY.

Amevscap have a strategic 25% holding, and that would be key to any hostile takeover bid.

I for one, hope that SEY will hold out for at another year at least, otherwise we may be deprived of our true reward, and many new holders will lose their BATR advantage.

thanks for clarity as I am new to this forum, I agree that it would be very disappointing if there was a bid approach, but just a query though where did the talk of possible bid come from?

However if it did happen, I dont think the management nor us shareholders would approve not at this stage. Realistically there is no harm of having a bid , as we can always reject it, until its right like say 10 a share do you reckon!

Harry has made no secret that he is up for selling the company. Evo have mentioned it in the past. Shares magazine mentioned last year from a source in the company.

and I mention it at every time I post.

Andy is correct - I was referring to a possible (probable) takeover of SEY. AMVESCAP hasn't built up such a large stake for fun and it would be impossible to offload it in the market under normal circumstances. They must be building it up to sell it on to a bidder. Harry has referred several times to a bid for SEY and is clearly open to offers. His latest mention of 'sector consolidation' came in the announcement of the preliminary results. Personally I don't think that SEY has got long for this world. October for a bid would do me fine as by then I will qualify for taper relief on the largest part of my holding.
FWIW I still see Woodside as the most likely culprit.

Have also been with this some time, started early 2001 with Fusion O & G and came to SEY with the bitter take over spat. More than happy with recent purchases sub 25p and also with SEY for the long haul. Question is, whether/when to return some of the proceeds to FDI for Groen results?

I'm not sure either, after the recent interim report, everything is riding on the Groen River, so that ups the stakes a fair bit IMO.

I am probably going to keep my SEY shares, and I may rotate funds from elsewhere into FDI nearer the time.

If you are in from 2001, you have maximum BATR, so that's one incentive to continue to hold.

I agree, Woodside would be a takeover candidate, and the two companies are together in the GOM as well as Mauritania.

Effectively SEY have said they are up for sale, but I would think they would want a higher price than 30p, especially as the directors have options.
