Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).
Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.
cheers GF.

For the Yorkshiremen on here not yet scared off by the jealousy displayed toward our great county;
Stanelco Ltd is an anagram of "t'stalled con".
Don't know if that helps.

just before the topic of projectiles is closed completely, i am most hurt with the comments about my age. LOL
i was at bisley.
soul traders, i wasnt saying you could see a bullet fired by yourself but one fired at YOU. they might be small but generally travel a lot more slowly than most think.
a lot of weapons for instance have their projectiles outrun by a humble jumbo jet.
ok i give in now, but as i am new to this thread i thought it was a general forum about anything.
and ive got insomnia

What do you get if you cross an insomniac, an agnostic and a dyslexic?
Someone who stays up all night wondering if there really is a dog.
Cue for Stanelco jokes!

Superrod,
Bisley was Incorporated into the Royal Charter in 1859. Sorry again could not resist, ( I know you take this in fun, also you don't know where I live).
As to my age... I can still shoot fairly well, but my days of storming are well behind me, and as to getting into the prone position, well no comment.

My Dad represented his regiment at Bisley.
Not funny or interesting, just thought I'd write it in case it is ever needed as an alibi.
In my loft I have the remains of a bullet he used there, and the old ammo box he used to rest on as a sniper during WW2.
Still not interesting or funny.
He fought with Monty in Egypt and Eisenhower in Europe. he couldn't get on with anyone.

Several years ago I was being assessed re continuation in my then present duty.
It was a hostage situation (simulated obviously). There were 3 bad guys with 10 hostages. I decided to have a bit of fun, ( big mistake).
I burst in shot everyone, hostages and bad guys.
My psychological assessor stopped the exercise and asked me what I was doing.
I informed him it was a new tactic I had thought of.
When word got out that we would shoot everyone, the bad guys would no longer take hostages as there would be no point.
I told him my philosophy was that in the long run it would save lives, IE ten now, none after. The trouble was he thought I was being serious, psychologist are like that.
I look back on it now and realize it was not funny. At the time, neither did he. I was asked! to leave the unit just after, can't think why.

Soultrader.
You say...I can understand, however, why they had second thoughts about including you in hostage rescue duties.
I think I have to agree with you.
On a serious note, when cars were less driver/passenger safe, IE no air bags, hard none give steering wheel, no seat belts, side protection zones etc, people were more wary of what might occur in a RTA.
The big problem now is drivers think they are invulnerable in the believed to be safety boxes they drive now days.

Andrew Flintoffs drinking apparantly came to light during a press conference.
He was just saying "I like 'em cos they taste nice and make my breath smell good" when a voice from the back cried out "tactics you pi$$ed up t**t".

Alan,
Must be my age. Read your joke and at first did not get it (I always get jokes) must be getting slow. Very funny, especially as it suddenly clicked.
