Saintserf,
Sterling like Dragon are a long term hold. I can remember when Dragon moved from 20p to 40p and everyone bailed out thinking they had sold at the top. Dragon at 2.00 are now a 20 bagger and the best bit is that my own personal long term target is 12.68.
Likewise Sterling are a long term play as seen by their prospects in Kirdistan which will take a couple of years to come about, but the market always moves well before so you are looking at a lot of near term upside as well as Mauritania`s oil market quadruples within 2 years.

To aLL,

I was in SEY in Sep 05 and sold in Feb for personal reasons. Do you think its worth getting back in???

soul traders - 06 May 2006 11:27 - 5846 of 7811

Saintserf, Fido, thank you for talking some of the best investment common sense I have read in a long time. Am now sitting with a smile on my face imagining the days when people won't bat an eyelid at a 2p rise on BLR - nice if it happens!!

Meaning no disrespect to other posters here, as lots of you have made some very interesting comments. Am not in SEY, by the way, but like to drop in regularly to get a feel of opinions.

cynic - 06 May 2006 11:29 - 5847 of 7811

hi jameel .....easy answer ... yes!

soul traders - 06 May 2006 11:38 - 5848 of 7811

Jameel, that must have been a big Valentine's bouquet - hope she was worth it!

I am sure others are more qualified than me to comment, but going by the shape of the chart alone, I'd be very encouraged about this one. Production increases look to be good to advance the SP considerably.

PS - Cynic thinks everything sucks, so if he's tipping it, it has to be good ;o)

fido - 06 May 2006 15:04 - 5849 of 7811

With regard to Kirdistan and in general Iraq, it is difficult to stress strongly enough just how important Sterlings presence in the country is. At the moment they have an MOU with the Kirdistan government and are at present conducting field studies. More importantly they have a right as part of that MOU to negotiate a PSA. This makes it probable that a PSA will be signed in the months ahead.
Although the following piece has nothing to do with Sterling, it does give an insight into how important Iraq is going to become over the next few years and for Sterling to have gained a foothold is of immense importance and is IMHO not reflected in its SP.

Andy - 06 May 2006 20:03 - 5853 of 7811

cynic,

Is that a meet up for SEY holders?

jameel06 - 06 May 2006 21:04 - 5854 of 7811

cynic - 06 May 2006 21:14 - 5855 of 7811

Andy - perhaps I need to copy onto this site, but the thread is entitled "get together" in Traders Room

Just a snippet from the Shares Mag.

"BUY -STERLING ENERGY (SEY) - 29.5p (STOP LOSS 23.5p)

Sterling Energy is on the verge of a shift into a cash-rich oil and gas explorer and producer. This is no flaky hot air and hope story but one of serious future profits growth, and the shares will be catapulted much higher"

seawallwalker - 07 May 2006 13:51 - 5857 of 7811

. working on this one, sorry.

fido - 08 May 2006 01:55 - 5858 of 7811

Whatever way you look at it, this company is going to see exceptional growth over the next few years, and brokers are recommending it as a strong buy.

soul traders - 08 May 2006 11:22 - 5859 of 7811

Cynic - thanks, would like to but it's a bit far from Frankfurt. Maybe some other time!

Andy - 08 May 2006 23:53 - 5860 of 7811

Soul,

"a bit far from Frankfurt"?

You could probably get to London faster than the tube from West Ruislip!

Andy - 08 May 2006 23:55 - 5861 of 7811

SWW,

We are still waiting!

A healthy volume of 21 million shares traded, and a green finish.

I still think we have a bit further to go in this run, time will tell, but SEY normally announce something around AGM time, which is not too far away.
