This is the new resting place for Stanelco, the wonder producer of starch-based food-trays...only they didn't catch on.Over the last 10 years to 2010 the 0.1p shares traded abour 2.5p then shot up to 24p during 2005 with promise of Tray-Trials I understand. Within a year or so, they fell to new depths and finished at 0.2p Of course they were full-list then and some were held in ISA's hoping there would be a big profit...only now these are distressed sales as the Company slunk off to AIM, presumably "...to provide better shareholder-value"
Perhaps someone closer to the Co. can explain why the new name is Biome
....rhymes with Home. Often it is done to remove the previous sp-history.
Could it be..so new investors can bask in ignorance, etc. I'm not aware of any "change" in fortune for SEO, rather the reverse.
In my limited experience, the longer the name of a company the longer you have to wait for any return...Huh . . . . . .

EDIT ( 24April2017)- "just woken up" -me not BIOME - sp is 154, but I note about June 2013 there was what looks like a CONsolidation . . do I recall many LT investors were sold-short?... as I believe the (new share) numbers were terrible! . . . Anyone?

I saw it mentioned in an article I was reading. It fits though.

I looked at their website and on the face of it, it looks OK....there is no washing the Past, but then much of their "tech" isn't new...it's a long slow extension of previous attempts to ignite the World.
They claim sone success with electric-toothbrushes, but so what? I don't consider this is a mass-market like food-trays. I suspect their Bio-plas is just too expensive - so it matters not how you dress it up, there will never be a profit large enough to support greed and shareholders.
It's a lamentable story that continues to grind away.....the change of name isn't fooling anyone and has added not a jot to this Management-mix.

There is only one reason why I am still holding. I have lost so much percentage wise (about 6,000 at current price, so only a small holding compared to many), I am holding for CGT purposes.
Should have sold out years ago. I admit I allowed heart to overrule head. The first and hopefully the last time.
How this company is still allowed to trade, beats me.

I agree with greekman, I have a few thousand pounds in it as well - me to should have sold out years ago but like so I allowed my heart to over rule my head. I am glad they are still trading as we may still be in with a chance other than that all will be lost. Years ago all the reading sounded good so what happened??

What happened. Nothing, absolutely nothing, zilch, zero! That's the problem.

Overoptimism, that's what happened, and an unerring belief that their main new product of the time, Greenseal, was a world beater, They had not considered that their 'wonder' machine would be far too slow for mainline production. It is still in mothballs I believe: they might get a few pennies scrap value!

Only just noticed.
The name change from Stanelco to Biome Technologies, has had a positive effect on my portfolio.
It has moved from the bottom to third position.
Shame it has only moved up due to my portfolio being in alphabetical order.

Look at their website, though. They are not denying the past (probably difficult since they still have to talk to the same potential customers). What they need is More Money spent in Field Sales and less on the top-table, since a well dressed monkey can sell xxxx but it needs feet-on-the-ground to develop a new market that doesn't have any reason to be.
Existing suppliers can cut costs to kill new-boys, then SEO bombs.

...Does the housewife (oops...shopper-person) really care if the food-tray is made from ecco friendly starch, or a cheap plastic?...provided it does the job and meets Regulations...the Supermarket only cares what customers may care and provided it's cheaper. I suspect SEO were never able to demonstrate cheapness and as others here have suggested their machines were not up to it even if the customer demanded. That alone would worry anyone.

I'm also waiting for a Biggie - and then for tax reasons it matters not if SEC/BIOM will "BOMB" - what a crazy new-name to choose, eh?

FWIW. They need to find another product....it's their background in Ultrasonics that is queering their minds, er, IMHO.

+Employing some clever (new-product) designers might help too.... trying to dislodge an existing supply-chaiin is deadly work.... only stupid salesmen would take it on. I suspect their sales-team is having a very hard time of it........blame the Management. This investment-fiasco is about 6-years in the making, I know...probably longer....aaargh. Anyone live near their HQ...?

I agree they have to find other products, but they could with the right management still make some progress along the bio degradable route.
I agree that most of the public do not care what food-trays or packaging are made of, and you are right that, all supermarkets care about is what the customer wants, or more so what they will buy.
But if the UK does not cut landfill drastically within the next few years they will be heavily fined by the EU.
Pressure will therefore be put on everyone, from the customer upwards to cut packaging waste.
As said, Biom could make an impact, but they have missed so many chances, I think they could look a gift horse in the mouth, and fail to grab it by the horns.

Good luck to you also re your other investment. Thank goodness all my other shares are performing far better than these. Not hard though is it!

Still I expect the Execs are workking hard to the benefit of shareholders, like themselves, - by rewarding them new Options, based on the current lowly sp.
=Then if someone was daft enough to bid, they could collect huge bonuses - paid out of company money.....wouldn't it be a great idea is all "bonuses, options etc" were paid out of a pot that included retail-shareholders?
-For otherwise they are effectively taking money from the petty-cash; I'm suggesting they should only be able to apply their "bonus" (if there is any profit), after sharehodlers have had a piece of the action....being "shareholders" they will get some of this anyway - their Bonus is there to mop-up any surplus profits, etc.

Most unlikely with this outfit...there are many years of back-dividends needed....there is another idea - perhaps those years when no dividend is declared, but Dirs receive a bonus/option/pension payment (ie anything above a monthly wage), then a dividend must be declared not less than 0.5% of Mkt Cap high withing 30-days either side of AGM. This would be a back-dividend which would be paid to LT shareholders when profits appear. This mechanism might stop directors grabbing bonuses when they aren't there for anyone else.

Interims due around the 27th of this month I believe. They should be really exciting, um........or not!

After a quick read of the half yearly report, I admit the future prospects 'look' good. There appears to be plenty of potential customers out there who are in different stages of product trials.
But we have heard this many times before.
So this time, will the management update the markets when they either fail to obtain any orders expected, or when they reach and pass the time periods they have mentioned regarding when they expect trials to end or orders/contracts to be signed.

This management have to earn my trust. They will have to work very hard and be 100% open with their shareholders.
So, not knocking the report as it reads. But will defer judgment whilst waiting.

As there is still nothing serious to report, I thought I would share a strange thought with you and every other long suffering shareholder (looks like only about 3 or 4 of us left here).
Remember the film 'The Fly' where a scientist was accidentally sealed in a chamber with a fly whilst he was attempting to work on a matter transporter device -- the disintegrator-integrator. It works, but not quite perfectly, the atoms mix and he ends up being part fly.
Perhaps members of the Biome board got a bit too near some bio-degradable plastic during production and sort of bio-degraded, never to be seen or heard of again.
Makes you think.
