I dismissed this company as froth when I first looked at it. Since then the sp has doubled and continues to steadily rise. I looked again and when I saw the countries and contracts this firm is in---I was impressed and bought some to tuck away. anyone else bought in or interested?

Interesting to see how Directors view retail shareholders - they can buy at 1p (recent News=Options), and sell at 23p DYOR.
I'm not sure I like this level of profiteering and presume they can't wait to offload stock when (we) -the idiot public - is will to pay so dearly for paper they can get for little more than by just turning up. Grr!

Monitise Supports U.S. Bank's Contactless Payment Pilot
"A contactless payment service which allows shoppers to purchase products in stores using their mobile phone handset is being trialled in America using innovative technology from Monitise, the UK-based leader in global mobile banking and payments.
Employees of U.S. Bank, the fifth largest bank in America, are testing the system which allows people to pay for products simply by waving their mobile phone handset over the contactless payment terminal at the shopping register.
A microSD equipped with a chip that securely stores one's credit or debit details is inserted in a mobile device and is read by the terminal. For iPhones, the microSD can be embedded into a specially-designed and patented iPhone case. The payment capable microSD and iPhone case are the product of US-based DeviceFidelity.
The contactless payments system is password protected and can be immediately disabled by the bank in the event the device is lost or stolen.
The pilot brings together Monitise's expertise in mobile financial services apps with DeviceFidelity's In2Pay microSD memory card and Visa's payWave contactless transactions technology."

Monitise to Bring Mobile Payments to Nigeria
Monitise welcomes the news that the Central Bank of Nigeria has granted a provisional licence to the company and its partners to introduce payments by mobile phone across the country.
The move will see Monitise, an established Visa partner, utilising its proven Globe platform, to offer financial services over the mobile phone to the unbanked. The service will also see the first deployment of the Monitise Mobile Wallet solution.
Monitise is delighted to have the opportunity to work with local partners to enable anyone in Nigeria with a mobile handset to access financial services.
The project will be in part enabled by the US $1.5m of development funding made by the Africa Enterprise Challenge Fund to Monitise in 2009.
Monitise's technology enables users to securely manage their money on their mobile phones and take advantage of a number of services including:
Adding money to their handset's mobile wallet or making withdrawals at a countrywide network of processing agents
Transferring money to other people or organisations over the handset
Obtaining their balances via SMS text alerts
Future services will include savings, insurance and pensions
Lee Cameron, Chief Commercial Officer of Monitise, said: "In conjunction with our local partners, we are delighted to be able to offer Monitise's technology in to this well regulated environment, empowering the millions of Nigerians who cannot access, or simply do not have, a conventional bank account - what we know as the 'unbanked' - to enjoy the security and benefits of inclusion within the financial world.
"We are committed to bringing the latest developments in mobile money management and payments to the unbanked across not just Africa but India and South East Asia as well."
Prateek Shrivastava, Managing Director of Monitise Africa, said: "Of Nigeria's 149 million strong population, 19 million have bank accounts, but 75 million have mobile phones - which amply illustrates the potential of mobile payments services across the country."
The first phase of the Monitise service will be launched in 2011 directly to consumers. In parallel the service will also be offered on a white label basis to the country's banks and financial service providers.

Merrill Lynch have picked up coverage today:
"We initiate mobile money specialist Monitise with a Buy rating and 44p price objective, 41% upside. Founded in 2003, it has set itself up as a trusted partner to connect banks and their credit, debit, and prepayment cards to consumers via their phones. This is no UK-focused niche player. San Francisco-based Visa Inc was suitably impressed to take a 14% stake and sign a global alliance agreement that has been updated twice and now represents $50m of guaranteed business, the largest mobile-money contract we have seen. Monitise also has projects in Hong Kong, China, Nigeria, UK, India, US/Canada.
Mobile money is not just about swapping a credit card swipe or PIN entry for a mobile phone wave or tap. It delivers significant value to consumers and merchants through loyalty and promotional potential. So mobile money is not just about rechanneling a slice of payment interchange fees, it is about rechanneling advertising and marketing spend. Todays dance between financial institutions, mobile operators, and giant tech companies for a slice of this pie requires aggregators and intermediaries, which is where Monitise fits in.
Monitises revenue base is in the process of switching from license/consultancy to transaction or user-count related revenues. The company expects to break even during calendar 2013, and model will switch from wont breakeven until Jun-14 FY because 70% of costs are investment in future opportunities. We estimate the current share price is the value of the live mobile banking activity. Todays share price implies a 30% chance that Monitise can take a modest 1% of the potential $75bn global banked mobile money market by 2020. We initiate with a valuation implying 50% chance of modest goal success."
