New Biom Technologies (BIOM)

hangon - 16 Jul 2010 15:31

DYOR - - - - - - - - - Biom Technologies mid-July 2010 AIM
This is the new resting place for Stanelco, the wonder producer of starch-based food-trays...only they didn't catch on.Over the last 10 years to 2010 the 0.1p shares traded abour 2.5p then shot up to 24p during 2005 with promise of Tray-Trials I understand. Within a year or so, they fell to new depths and finished at 0.2p Of course they were full-list then and some were held in ISA's hoping there would be a big profit...only now these are distressed sales as the Company slunk off to AIM, presumably "...to provide better shareholder-value"
Perhaps someone closer to the Co. can explain why the new name is Biome
....rhymes with Home. Often it is done to remove the previous sp-history.
Could it be..so new investors can bask in ignorance, etc. I'm not aware of any "change" in fortune for SEO, rather the reverse.
In my limited experience, the longer the name of a company the longer you have to wait for any return...Huh . . . . . .
. SEO had been a terrible investment.
DYOR.
Can Biome be any worse...?
EDIT ( 24April2017)- "just woken up" -me not BIOME - sp is 154, but I note about June 2013 there was what looks like a CONsolidation . . do I recall many LT investors were sold-short?... as I believe the (new share) numbers were terrible! . . . Anyone?

What's this? A contract win? Yes it is!

Contract awarded to RF Division

Biome is pleased to announce that its Stanelco RF Technologies division has signed a £1.1m contract with a customer in Asia for the manufacture of a set of fibre optic furnaces for supply during 2015.

It was noted in the Group's trading update on 27 April 2015 that there were encouraging signs that the supply demand balance in the Asian fibre optic market was changing and that the division was quoting on a number of systems with potential customers who were considering new capacity.

This order is indicative of the improvement in market conditions and gives significant underpinning to the Board's expected outcome for this division in 2015.

Not even mildly?! :o)

Well over a year ago Biome stated that they were close to doing a deal regarding their coffee pods.

Since then we have heard nothing, similar situations have been the bane of Biome and previously Stanelco investors for years.

Smell the coffee, anyone smell even a whiff (of coffee that is).

greekman - 04 Sep 2015 17:31 - 615 of 644

Interim results.

Improved margins to 39% (H1 2014: 35%)

Increased margins mean nothing if things don't sell!

New product line within Biome Bioplastics has reached the commercialisation stage and is expected to deliver revenue in H2 2015.

Didn't they say similar re expected revenue in 2014!

Encouraging order flow received.

Where!!!!!Proof would be nice via an RNS re an order!

The Board believes that the Group remains on target.

Again didn't they say similar in 2014 and for many years before that!

Single-serve coffee market to levels similar to those in the first half of 2014.

Again where are the orders, or have I missed them!.

The problem with Biome is that it is so hard to believe all the promises after being strung along for so many years.

Whilst I am sure there are many out there who feel I am continually knocking the company, I assure them that should Biome show me just one clear sign that they are finally pushing the fringes of a profit that looks sustainable, I will acknowledge so!

If anyone can show me that they have, please do so!

In the mean time the sp just drops and drops!

greekman - 05 Oct 2015 16:32 - 616 of 644

Fantastic day for Biome, all todays trades are buys (sarcasm sometimes beats humour).

A single trade that cost less than what's in the companies tea fund, and that not counting the biscuits!

My son bought some Kopi luwak yesterday, it is the most expensive coffee in the world.

It is produced from coffee beans which have been digested by a certain Indonesian cat-like animal called the palm civet or also civet cat.

So its something that has been passed as poo and is expensive, I will say no more!

greekman - 13 Oct 2015 07:17 - 619 of 644

With the lack of posts on here, obviously because Biome are giving us nothing to talk about, I wonder just how many of those who posted regularly a couple of years ago, still hold or have they sold out long ago as I did.

I think all have by now given up on waiting for that all important RNS stating a contract on that forever tomorrow promise of coffee capsules.

kimoldfield - 13 Oct 2015 09:28 - 620 of 644

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the announcement of a manufacturing partner for the fabulous Greenseal machine, I was thinking of putting in an offer for one, which I would have converted into a novelty snooker table. Sadly, my plan did not materialise; my grandson put the 1p I had put aside in his money box and I did not have the heart to get it back out! :o)

greekman - 13 Oct 2015 11:36 - 621 of 644

Lol we need a laugh these days.

I wonder what ever happened to those biodegradable plastic bags that Biome were shouting about years ago, presumably they went the same way as most of their other 'future contracts'.

greekman - 27 Oct 2015 07:30 - 622 of 644

Remember when we used to switch our computers on pre 0700hrs and sit there excitedly waiting for those RNS's that were full of promise and came around fairly regularly.

Then of course we waited for follow up's to these RNS's that never seemed to materialise, or if they did we soon began to realise that the following RNS's were just a different way of saying the same thing as those that came previously (IE more promises).

Those days have of course long gone (remember those £35 before Xmas predictions) and it appears that even those promise appear to have dried up, presumably as even the company realise that although you can fool some people all of the time and some, some of the time, you can't fool all of the people all of the time.

I wonder if there are any punters left who still switch on their computers every morning with anticipation of a contract or just check in now and then expecting the same old same old or even the total lack of news that is the current situation.

Sitting at my computer this morning I started to get really excited, was it a contract RNS released by Biome or a leaf drifting down from one of our trees, yes it's the drifting leaf of course and I would bet that all the leaves will have fallen well before I see one of those never arriving RNS's.

greekman - 17 Dec 2015 08:06 - 623 of 644

I understand that Biome are sending all their customers a Xmas card this year.

Will they have to buy them separately or do they still sell them in packs of six.

kimoldfield - 17 Dec 2015 08:57 - 624 of 644

I think they will buy them separately Greek, they would have too many left if they bought a pack of 6 and that would probably need an EGM to authorise excess expenditure!

greekman - 17 Dec 2015 10:06 - 625 of 644

Hi Kimoldfield,

As I started to read your post, I thought you were going to say that they still had some cards left from the pack of 6 they bought last year.

Anyway, all the best to all for Xmas and the New Year, I hope we all prosper, me most of all of course.

kimoldfield - 17 Dec 2015 10:29 - 626 of 644

Lol! All the best to you too Greek. Drop a penny or two into my begging bowl when you pass me on the street, after your prosperous New Year of course!

kimoldfield - 17 Dec 2015 11:24 - 627 of 644

Lol! I have just received an email from Biome wishing me a Happy Christmas! :o)

robinhood - 17 Dec 2015 15:43 - 628 of 644

Kim now that is good news!!!!!! as I did not realize their offices had the programs to send emails....

greekman - 21 Dec 2015 07:27 - 629 of 644

I have written to Biome asking the CEO if there is any chance of a meaningful contract before year end.

My grandchildren after writing to Father Christmas asked me if he would reply, does he really come down the chimney and does he stop time (that's Father Christmas, not Paul Mines).

Not to spoil their perception of Xmas I told them that of course he would and he does.

So as not to spoil the perception of some who still hold Biome shares, of course he will reply, as for the contract I suggest you start believing in Santa.

kimoldfield - 26 Jan 2016 12:24 - 630 of 644

I am absolutely baffled by BIOM's latest RNS. It contains words like 'profit', 'above market expectations', stuff like that. This is BIOM! Have they reinvented the dictionary to put a different meaning to words?! :o)

Biome Technologies plc's pre-close trading statement for the financial year ended 31 December 2015 is set out below.

Group revenues for the year reached £4.9m, a 37% increase on the revenues of £3.6m reported for 2014.

The Group made a small profit before interest, tax, depreciation, amortisation, and incentive scheme charges in the second half of 2015 (based on unaudited management accounts). This builds on the achievement of meeting this long term strategic KPI on a similar basis for the first time in the third quarter of 2015.

Revenues in the Bioplastics division reached £1.9m, an increase of 29% on the 2014 revenue of £1.4m. A new temperature resistant material is now in its commercialisation phase and is providing an additional revenue stream.

The RF division finished the year strongly and achieved full year revenues of £3.0m, a 42% increase on the 2014 revenue of £2.1m. This revenue growth was achieved across a broader spread of equipment types than in previous years. A robust order book for the first half of 2016, including the previously announced delivery of the advanced analytical equipment to a regulated industry, is in place.

The Group's cash position at 31 December 2015 was £1.6m (30 September 2015: £1.7m).

Consequently, the Board expects the financial performance for the full year of 2015 to be above the market's current expectations. Trading in 2016 has started in an encouraging manner.

The preliminary results for the year ended 31 December 2015 are scheduled to be published on 30 March 2016.
