Rockhopper was established in 2004 with a strategy to invest in and undertake an offshore oil exploration programme in the North Falkland Basin. It was floated on AIM in August 2005. Rockhopper was the first company to make a commercial oil discovery in the Falklands. Today Rockhopper is the largest acreage holder in the North Falkland Basin, with interests in the Greater Mediterranean region.

Muppet stock really - the rampers were saying the farm out was going to be so good, I said it was going to be low value.
It was low value and also no chance of oil before 2017 - so why is anyone still holding RKH ? Looks like many are agreeing now and selling.

I'd have to agree with that, one for the long term maybe but not at current prices.

FOGL has a heck of a lot of prospects......their acreage right across the east southeast and northeast Falklands is massive .......oil to me is in the North possibly from the Argos licence increasing in pond sizes all the way round Sealion and down into the big FOGL targets......

If there was only one reason to buy out Rockhopper (not saying it will happen) its that at the current mkt cap of under £600 million, with US$231 million up front cash payment on completion of transaction, plus US$722 million Sea Lion development carry (net to Rockhopper) plus what cash they already had they must be a temptation.
So with a mkt cap of £600,000,000 being £9,000,000 below the above total sums(not counting the cash they already had), how could this not be a takeover target.

It's a risk (FOGL)....but for exploration companies it is.......something big is showing up on their seismic for the first drill......sp far too low for the potential offered....I'm surprised about the low sp for Rockhopper.....remember when we were hesitant about selling around the £5 mark !.......would never have believed that by now it was £2.......just shows how difficult it is to predict outcomings......

The fact is that any oil find off the FI will a) take a fair while to reach production stage and b) be expensive to extract.

after a weak start, but with bid now outnumbering offer 3:1, it's just possible that the bears have decided that they have now had enough fun and are starting to close

Looking at other sites, I see that many are disappointed by todays RNS showing that members of he 'bod' have not bought in larger numbers.
Although it would have been nice to see members of the BOD, purchase more shares than they have done, I feel that it is not so much lack of confidence in the company as lack of confidence in the sp, which is totally different.
Although I like most hoped to see a better deal than they got from Premier, it was as most accept, the best one out there.
They could have tried to go down the equity route without bringing in a partner, but what with the way interest rates to businesses are going, especially what would be deemed high risk and the current world financial (risk) attitude, I very much doubt they would have got a better deal than the Premier partnership deal.
So back to the confidence of the Bod.
No matter what your confidence level in the company, why risk buying a large tranch of shares at todays price, when indications are that the sp could, and I stress could, go lower still.
Unsettling, I know, but how many of us are confident that the bottom has been reached.
If I was looking to invest more in Rockhopper (I am fully commited) I would be looking to buy in stages, starting at todays bargain price, whilst watching and waiting to buy in several times over any further price drops.
Of course this carries its own risks, as the bottom could have been reached, but its far better to miss out on buying for a few ticks up of the sp, than it is to fully commit and then see a steady drop.
Like the Bod, I still have confidence in the company, but not in the sp.
When buying and selling shares, the bod know like we do, Its timing that counts!

Markymar,
I do tend to agree with your opinions on most things posted on these threads, but when you start posting such unbelievable nonsense like seeing the sun, I have to start doubting what you say.
A bit more credibility in your posts please!
