Just what I have been saying, the big boys will watch how BOR and FOGL get on in the south and make their first moves there, before they get involved with anything small in the north.

For reference here are the well locations for BOR and FOGL, and also the anticipated API of oil (worst case in terms of an emergency are the FOGL figures do bottom end of the expected range, BOR appear to have put in the average figures of the range they expect to find). BOR being 32API for Darwin and 25API for Stebbing, and FOGL being 18API for Loligo (Nimrod/Vinson) and 30API in the case of Scotia.

BOR's targets are 32API oil (av.) for Darwin and 25API oil (av.) for Stebbing.

FOGL's targets are 18API oil (worst case) for Loligo (or Nimrod/Vinson) and 30API (worst case) oil for Scotia

you keep banging that drum m8, but even in the (pretty unlikely) event that FOGL or BOR finds some oil, all the regional oilies will benefit - so all the more reason to stay with RKH which has already found decent quantities of the stuff

Proselenes - 03 Jan 2012 09:59 - 71 of 2393

cynic, too small quantities so far by RKH to interest the major oilies, IMO.

greekman - 03 Jan 2012 10:30 - 72 of 2393

Proselenes,

I disagree with your last comment, re majors not being interested for 2 reasons.

1 There has been sufficient proven recoverable oil found to make a decent profit, especially as any oil discoveries are getting scarcer than ever.

2 The prospects of further discoveries in the FI oil fields are looking almost a certainty, so oilies, including the majors will be fighting each other to get their foot in the door, or should that read, drills into the wells.

Remember that oilies, especially the majors, plan for the next 10 to 20 years, when the price of oil allowing for inflation will because of increased demand coupled with decreasing supply will be far higher.

Greek.

cynic - 03 Jan 2012 12:17 - 73 of 2393

and at least RKH has actually found oil, which is a lot more than can be said for FOGL, BOR, DES and any of the other blue sky jokers

Proselenes - 03 Jan 2012 13:36 - 74 of 2393

greekman, the trouble is its not a big find.

Anyone getting involved will get blacklisted by nearly all South American countries.

So, the bigger the find the more inclined they will be.

I think the big boys will wait and see what BOR and FOGL discover this year and then make a decision to get involved or not.

cynic - 03 Jan 2012 14:03 - 75 of 2393

so why on earth are you buying (one assumes) FOGL or BOR?

greekman - 03 Jan 2012 14:26 - 76 of 2393

Cynic,

Good point.

Proseleness,

We will have to agree to differ!

Proselenes - 03 Jan 2012 14:36 - 77 of 2393

cynic, as they have the potential for multi-billion barrels recoverable finds.

If there is a few billion barrels on offer the majors will not care about South America not being happy.

Size means everything.

cynic - 03 Jan 2012 15:15 - 78 of 2393

what a load of codswallop! ..... MR P - your 2 faves haven't even found a duster yet

Proselenes - 04 Jan 2012 01:38 - 79 of 2393

We will see cynic, lets see how things are with the BOR and FOGL and RKH share prices next month, in three months and in six months time.

I will compare them and quote back to you - we will then see who had the right idea.

Its a little out of date with the information as its old, but here is some detail on the production at the Marlim field offshore Brazil in the Campos Basin, which has been ongoing for years now.

The Campos Basin is the analogue for Loligo/Nimrod/Vinson etc.. - with the targets at Loligo/Nimrod/Vinson all expected to have oil in the 18API to 25API range (production at the offshore Marlim field is 17API to 22API)

500K buy there, looks like the overhang is getting cleared out, chunk by chunk.

South American countries firmly support Argentina............ my donkey they do ;)
