Centamin Egypt : Worth waiting for... (CEY)

pthwaite - 20 Sep 2004 10:27

CEY is a gold mining company operating in Egypt. It was ordered by the Egyptian Government to stop drilling pending a legal dispute brought against the company by a government minister.

Since then, the whole Government cabinet was replaced a few months ago and the minister now in charge of Mining is believed to be positive on Western investment in the country. CEY are pushing for this minister to allow them to continue drilling ASAP; investers are waiting....patiently.

As soon as the company gets the go-ahead to continue drilling, the share price will move north; CEY has plenty of gold in this mine and it is (apparantly) the case of "raking" it out rather than drilling for it!

Check them out...worthy of a punt.

His son was lined up to take over. No one has yet asked him if he would prefer to take over a troubled country and don the mantle of Presidency or live in luxury for the rest of his life in a friendly tax haven. Hmmmmm......tough choice!

TANKER - 03 Feb 2011 07:59 - 637 of 2354

MUBARAK is worse than any NAZI

cynic - 03 Feb 2011 08:22 - 638 of 2354

something of an exaggeration, but certainly his refusal to stand down willingly and promptly is decidedly destructive and verging on the foolishly manic ...... given that mubarak's power base is not like saddam's (of blessed memory!), i would not be at all surprised to see him suddenly make the "grand gesture" having been "persuaded" by one means or another by external powers

TANKER - 03 Feb 2011 08:31 - 639 of 2354

Did not get my timing right 143p..(I never do) but perhaps another surge to above 150p is on the cards.....mine will be unaffected by all the troubles in the cities....

kernow - 03 Feb 2011 09:38 - 646 of 2354

Agreed - a fatuous analogy.
Also isn't it the case that the army has its own economy/funds? Mubarak needs the army more than it needs him. If the army thinks regime change is needed then change it will.

160p might even be on the cards.....

HARRYCAT - 03 Feb 2011 09:51 - 649 of 2354

So might 120p.....! If you are convinced that the sp will get back to it's former level once the troubles are over, why not just sit on your holding and think longer term?

Using spreads for this.....at the moment....playing the opportunistic game....

Muslim Brotherhood now in talks with the government? Mumbarak looks like he may have to go pdq, but still resisting over worries of a vacuum. Can't make up my mind whether the worst is over or yet to come.
