THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

p.s. Sorry, that may have been a bit racist!

hewittalan6 - 28 Jan 2008 14:58 - 6416 of 81564

I'm thick skinned (and headed) Oblo. ;-)
Funny thing is, The Maggon was never popular in the north cos thats the area that suffered under her policies, to the benefit of the south. One could argue that the reverse was true of Blair. The south suffered (in terms of the council tax at least) for the benefit of the north.
Politics is one of those delicious areas were we will never all agree, and thats great, just how it should be.
But how come a pinko commie called Oblomov supports The Maggon?
Sorry, that may have been a bit racist. ;-)

No milk for schoolkids ........... less fat kids.

kimoldfield - 28 Jan 2008 17:01 - 6418 of 81564

No milk for schoolkids ............. less fat dairy farmers.

I hasten to add that I actually think dairy farmers in this country get a bit of a raw deal.

I just admire the character in the book, Alan. He's everything I'd like to be, really. Fat, lazy and indecisive!! Still, you can't have everything!!!!!

Seymour Clearly - 28 Jan 2008 23:34 - 6421 of 81564

Loving this thread guys - great manners, hilarious observations (mainly about Trev) and reminiscences and reasoned discussions about politics. Excellent :-)

jimmy b - 29 Jan 2008 00:23 - 6422 of 81564

gorgeous ,in her younger days.

hewittalan6 - 29 Jan 2008 07:52 - 6423 of 81564

I still fancy Wilma more.
I wouldn't turn down a threesome with them both though.

Derek Conway, the Tory MP for Old Bexley and Sidcup, has been reprimanded for using the money to pay his son while he was studying at university.

So yet another MP is caught with his grubby fingers in our till.

If he was paying his son a wage+bonuses, I wonder if income tax and as also paid as it should have been. Not casting aspersions, but would be interesting to know.

It appears he may also have put his other son on the payroll.

This year I might just forget, or and make an admin error in the following.

Renewing my Car Tax, Insurance and MOT.
Completing my Tax Returns and when finally remembering, neglecting to state certain incomes.
Community Charge payments.
TV License.
CGT (if I am lucky enough to reach such amounts).
Completion of Electoral Roll.

Although we are not yet anywhere near as corrupt as many countries we are slowly getting there. This Government (and opposition) have lost so much moral ground that they should desist from any attempts to criticize others.

As the Law stands anyone who has evidence (no matter how slim) can make a complaint of a crime. As a tax payer, any such dealings as those alleged to be committed by Derek Conway I could be classed as a victim/complainant.

Perhaps we should all make an official complaint. We might at least get a crime number.

The quicker one off these crooks is sentenced to a prison term the better, but I'm not holding my breath.

kimoldfield - 29 Jan 2008 09:10 - 6425 of 81564

I don't see why they should be afforded the luxury of a high class hotel like prison Greek!!

It would give a whole new meaning to conviction politics.
Funnily enough, while I love the idea of sending corrupt politicians to Pentonville, part of the problem with politics these days is the lack of cherishably eccentric characters, half of whom were on the take.
How memorable and good for the country were Churchill, George and the like. All bent as a nine bob note, but they knew how to get things through. Now compare them with, erm, thingy. that bloke with the beard in Labours cabinet and whassisname, that fellow that runs the tories.
Not forgetting............okay I forgot.
On the take or eccentric, they make the world go round. Where is the next generation of Skinners, Powells, Foots and Tebbits. Who could replace Archer and Clarke, or that dosy sod who used his family as an alibi and returned from the nick a reborn christian. They've all been disinfected by steering groups and focus groups and remodelled into tape recordings of what the leader of the day wants them to say.
Give me 350 Skinners on one side of the house and 350 Tebbits on the other any day. The politics may be shocking and the country would end up bankrupt, but not because a bunch of middle class housewives had voted something through on a policy revies committee. Because we would have a direction and sod the world.
(Rambling again Oblo, but don't you miss the weekly Neil and Maggon show).

i just went to a site Al and it had a poll of which one would guys most like a date with ,it's 70% Betty ,Wilma came a poor 30%.

I don't get it she just does'nt appeal to me.

jimmy b - 29 Jan 2008 09:52 - 6428 of 81564

Now thats a dream girl.

hewittalan6 - 29 Jan 2008 09:53 - 6429 of 81564

To be honest jimmy, in my dreams I slept with Betty, but I was thinking about Wilma, and Betty wasn't very good.
Anyway, I bumped into Fred and Barney in the showers and I cannot compete with Barneys equipment, so it could ruin my reputation.
Despite this , and any similarity in looks, let me make it clear that Bam Bam is not my child and my lawyers are reading if anyone says any different.

hewittalan6 - 29 Jan 2008 09:53 - 6430 of 81564

Weapons drawn every time you play tomb raider, jimmy??????

jimmy b - 29 Jan 2008 09:54 - 6431 of 81564

Or how about this ,Lara Croft nude ,and someone felt they had to cover her up !!

greekman - 29 Jan 2008 09:55 - 6432 of 81564

The biggest problem is we are becoming almost immune to corruption. I wonder how many of us when we read or hear of yet another politician making an 'Administrative Error! just shrug our shoulders and think, 'so what, aren't they all on the take'.

If the powers that be back away from using the law to deal with these people, I will go out of my way to stir things up as much as possible.
In my own small way I may not get anywhere but at least I will feel better.

Note.... Several years ago I watched a man die (heart attack) within 100 yards of a medical practice where at least 10 doctors were present.
I gave him heart massage until the ambulance arrived, (no paramedics then). As they took over I ran to the practice and spoke to 3 different doctors requesting them to attend. All 3 refused giving various reasons, such as too busy with patients, conducting an examination and so on.

I took all 3 to a GMC tribunal, and after the hearing all 3 were disciplined (slap on the wrist) none of their reasons being even partly excepted. I was not satisfied, so after getting the GMC to confirm that although the findings were confidential my copy of the finding were my property to do with as I pleased (never did work out the sense of that) I contacted the local press. All 3 doctors were named and shamed on a full front page spread.

The above is just to show that if you make enough waves (become a pain in the ass) you can get a result.

Where's Guy Fawkes when you need him!..

hewittalan6 - 29 Jan 2008 10:08 - 6433 of 81564

jimmy,
This is all well and good, and I can see Laras charms (almost), but in the end, shes a computer generated image, so it can never work. Wilmas a real woman, but unfortunately she will never leave Fred.
Never mind. In my dreams I have experienced exactly what it is that makes Fred shout Yabadabadoo every morning, and let me tell you, it's worth the shout.

hewittalan6 - 29 Jan 2008 10:18 - 6434 of 81564

The competition is declared open.
The MAM sexiest person on TV awards will accept nominations on this thread.
Before any of you run off shouting sexist and pervert (and I plead guilty on both counts), this is open to all three sexes (in case anyone nominates Pete Best).
The rules are simple.
1) Nominate the sexiest person on TV.
2) Add your reasons
3) Jimmy and I will be the sole judges
4) Wilma will win anyway
5) Anne widdicombe is banned from the competition to give all the other women a chance, and anyway, even people on this thread are not that sick
6) Johnny Depp cannot be nominated because that would be the end of that (hell, he even gets me worked up).
