THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

"Rule Britannia" has been referred to the axioms and cliches review board of the EC, where 17000 beaurocrats on 65000 per year (plus expenses) are due to rule on whether or not it is an acceptable phrase, or whether it should be replaced with "Open minded and constructive democracy, based on a multicultural and ethnically diverse approach to policy resulting in harmony through various classes of origin, wealth and ability, providing none of it upsets our European neighbours or anyone who has oil".
It is thought this is more fitting for a 21st century balls up of a country that has been relegated to taking in laundry for the rest of the world.

greekman - 31 Jan 2008 17:48 - 6472 of 81564

I fully support the decision to remove Britannia. As we live in an anti British (sorry meant multi-cultural) society we should remove all traces of Britishness that might offend others.
Just thought of a way to save billions of tax payers money.
If we all learned 'Arabic' the language of our future. (Hope my E-Mails are not one of those being bugged as stated in yesterdays press).
No more would we have to waste money on printing forms, documents and the like in dozens of different languages.
No more spending huge amounts of money on translators.

As for 'Taking in Laundry' that must be a politically incorrect comment directed at the Chinese. Shame on you.
I have a good mind to report you to the thought police.

Eurocentric bureaucracy: a question of the bland leading the blind?

Union Jack will be the next thing to go ,wouldn't want to upset all the foreigners .

'The Royal Mint said it would unveil the new designs in the spring - and promised that Jade Goody will not be appearing on the back of the 50p piece.'

Well, I'll sleep more soundly tonight knowing that!

Madness......About 4 miles from where I live a sports club is selling off 44 acres of land as they want to move due to continuing flood problems (it's a flood plain). A building company wants to build about 145 house on this land. When it was pointed out to them that the land is prone to flooding, they altered the planning application to show that the houses would be built up via the foundations being raised above the flood level.
The surrounding houses which were badly effected in last years floods will then obviously take more run off as the flood plain will be covered in concrete.
The locals are getting very militant and I intend to join them, even if it risks arrest for obstruction.
We don't need more house, we need less people. It's as simple as that.

The building company are missing a trick there, imo. They should stick in a mooring with each house and sell it as a marina.

hewittalan6 - 01 Feb 2008 08:36 - 6480 of 81564

I got a plan.
Lets all move to Nepal. No interfering idiots telling us what to do and think, no flooding cos its all down hill from there, and to make us feel at home they have a completely insane royal family.

greekman - 01 Feb 2008 08:37 - 6481 of 81564

Never thought of that, not a bad idea.
Signed the Britannia petition, and it states it will be forwarded to the Prime Minister.
Hope he re-cycles it instead of throwing it straight in the bin.

ExecLine - 01 Feb 2008 08:53 - 6482 of 81564

As it's nothing more than piffling shit, one should give all of one's loose change to charity. Then it matters not a toss what's on the back of it. One simply doesn't have to bother with it.

hewittalan6 - 01 Feb 2008 09:11 - 6483 of 81564

Sorry Exec,
Can't do that. The EU council of Ministers decreed that charity workers and bankers are no longer allowed to handle coins (or containers of loose metal discs regardless of monetary value - as they call them) over 0.23 kilos in weight as part of the EU drive to reduce back strain in the workplace, or to count in excess of 0.67 Euros in a single hour to eradicate repetative strain injury among tellers.
If we did as you suggest, we would be liable to suing for negligence to the tune of 1million and, worse still, we might have to visit Brussells to explain.

Just been to the bookies and had a great bet.
I put 50p on at 1000/1 that at Beadles funeral as the cortege pulls up at the the church, the cheif undertaker will whip his glasses, false nose and moustache off to reveal its Noel Edmonds with a gotcha oscar.

bosley - 01 Feb 2008 09:58 - 6485 of 81564

i'm a bit baffled by all the fuss about beckham not being included in capello's first engaland squad. beckham hasn't played a match since november. how on earth could he be match fit? it beggars belief that those lobbying for beckham thought they could influence capello's team selection. the man is only interested in winning.

greekman - 01 Feb 2008 10:01 - 6486 of 81564

I also went to the bookies yesterday but for a different bet.
I wanted to put 1 on at best oddds that if all MP's expence accounts are ever scrutenised by audit, there would not be one that was found to be 100% on the level. Strange not 1 bookie would except the bet. They said they don't except bets on sure things.

hewittalan6 - 01 Feb 2008 11:21 - 6489 of 81564

Sorry Jimmy,
Forgot to finish it all off.
The first place woman was Wilma, for no other reason than I am the sole judge.
The first place man was me, based on all the fan mail I got from the MAM wimmin, and that the only other nomination was John Noakes.
I won after a recount.
So its official.
Wilma Flintstone is a sex Goddess of the highest order, and I am sex-on-a-stick.

I have been so touched recent by the popular idea that we should all apologies for our past morally ambiguous history, that I went round to a neighbor yesterday to apologize personally. Through research I have found out that I am a decedent from a Viking Family that came over to rape and pillage in the 10th century. This was a shock as on previously speaking to my neighbor about descendancy he informed me that he had traced his family tree back to 974 AD and at that time his family were Anglo Saxons living in York.
I felt very bad at the possibility that my great great great and so on grandfather Eric the beautiful (It is believed he was the first viking to come out) possibly raped the great great (ok you get the idea) grandmother and perhaps because he was a bit that way inclined (can we still say that) great great grandfather of my neighbor.
Also their house was probably pillaged before it was burned to the ground.
I now have difficulty sleeping at nights and have decided to make financial retribution as I'm sure that will satisfy my conscience, as it appears to for most of the worlds political leaders.
I suggest we all look to our past, I believe it's good for the soul.

Note.... Any others out there who can send me evidence of their family being persecuted by the Vikings (especially Eric the beautiful) please contact me via the, 'weshouldapologizeforabsolutelybloodyeverything.com' and I will bear my sole in our local social prayer and absolution building (church) and ask Freya the Viking god of forgiveness for absolution.
