I got the bath, the only one big enough in the shop was one of those with water jets. It will just have to do. Off to get some taps now. Back later.

Spacie - that's terrible. No wonder GB is in such a state with half the country failing to cope with a few bevvies the night before. ;-) Well done for making the morning! LOL!

Spaceman - 12 Aug 2005 22:28 - 6559 of 24230

Al, I am proud to be contributing to the decline ;-)

Just got back home after an hour out in the country watching the Perseid Meteor Shower, we saw about 20, very nice.

optomistic - 13 Aug 2005 10:16 - 6561 of 24230

Got up at 2.40 to watch the meteors, went back to bed at 3.10 after seeing nothing.......Never saw anything at all then until 9.30.

Spaceman - 13 Aug 2005 10:32 - 6562 of 24230

optimistic, they were about 1 minute apart and varied a lot in brightness and amount of sky they covered, the best one we saw was the first one as it streaked across the whole sky. You really need to be away from town lights, if you can see some of the fainter stars clearly then your eyes are sensitive enough to pick them up. Apparently the best technique is to lay on the ground and look at the sky your brain will notice the movement very quickly. We leant against the car and looked north.

You should be able to see them again tonight, but if you watch the sky you get them every night, this shower just ensures there are a lot more than normal.

Morning all. Just popped in for a quick bite before starting the shopping round. All this talk of showers reminds me I have to find some gold taps for the new bath. I'd better be quick about it or Choccy will be getting the whip out..............again.

chocolat - 13 Aug 2005 11:28 - 6564 of 24230

Gold's becoming a bit expensive, Socks - and taps is taps.
I'm more concerned about where you're going to put them.

Which reminds me - is there plenty of bike space?

optomistic - 13 Aug 2005 11:44 - 6565 of 24230

Spacie, thanks for the tips on star watching. Unfortunately if I were lain on the ground or leant against the car at 3.00am I may have other things on my mind ;-))

jeffmack - 13 Aug 2005 17:21 - 6568 of 24230

Has anyone got the an Argos calalogue, not the new one but the previous one? I need someone to check an item number because my son feels he was sold an incorrect item.

Fundamentalist - 13 Aug 2005 17:32 - 6569 of 24230

Fundamentalist - 13 Aug 2005 17:47 - 6570 of 24230

optomistic - 13 Aug 2005 18:55 - 6571 of 24230

Fundamentalist - 13 Aug 2005 19:05 - 6572 of 24230

Opto

Wish i was!!!! Spent all day painting again and about to go off for another stint - guiness sounds far more promising

jeffmack - 13 Aug 2005 19:13 - 6573 of 24230

Thanks fundy, I managed to get one. My son wanted a memory stick pro due for his sony eric phone. The catalogue had a picture of the memory stick duo pro but the item was a memory stick pro which is different. He tried to get a refund but as he had opened it they wouldnt admit any fault. They said they didnt have the catalogue with it in (from last saturday).

So the Argos Manager is going to get a lashing tomorrow.

optomistic - 13 Aug 2005 19:17 - 6574 of 24230

I have found them very good with exchanges etc in the past Jeff, sure it will turn out OK.

optomistic - 13 Aug 2005 19:18 - 6575 of 24230
