SYMPHONY PLASTICS - Recycle your way to a triple bagger! (SYM)

the pink pound - 15 Jul 2003 01:10

From earlier this year.

"The fund raise significantly strengthens Symphony's balance sheet and will
allow us to maintain the quantum growth we have enjoyed over the past few
months. We are now receiving significant interest from a variety of sectors in
our degradable solution to the problems associated with plastic waste and,
following this strengthening of our resources, we are in a much stronger
position to meet the considerable demand for our products."

This last statement shows that corporations are looking seriously at Symphonys products. Yesterdays announcement shows a real coup for the company, as they have walked away from a potential exclusivity contract with no penalties!. Rarely seen IMO.

Bio-degradeable products are appearing everywhere, especially in the consumer disposal market, and Symphony look to be taking a large chunk of this with their own brands.

I believe strongly in the management of the company. I see they have the technical ability and also the qualities required to deal with the financial markets. Too often we see an excellent company with strong technical management, only to see them fail as they have no idea how to deal with the stock market.

That is why I am nominating Symphony plastics as my "tip of the week". If you get in early enough, I believe you could see a potential treble bagger by the end of July.

I would welcome your comments on the above analysis.

another point of view on the whole plastic bag thing - the relevance being to the value or not of boidegradable plastic bags...interesting points...but not entirely a point of view we wish to encourage just yet..

Good article in Shares Magazine today, I'm thinking of Switching SEO for SYM. With such big names like Tesco and Asda involved it looks like SYM desrves a better market cap than 5 million?

G D Potts - 25 May 2006 16:02 - 71 of 362

Bought 20'000 at 8.6p today. Lets hope for a good future.

queen1 - 25 May 2006 22:22 - 72 of 362

Welcome on board G D Potts. I've held all the way up to 24p and back down to 6p. Should have sold part of the holding during that ride but I believe in the business and I'm hanging in there for the long haul.

driver - 25 May 2006 23:40 - 73 of 362

Not in but have been on my watch list for a while now.

queen1 - 26 May 2006 08:35 - 74 of 362

What will tempt you in driver?

ddoc2 - 26 May 2006 10:20 - 75 of 362

have bought back in on the speculation, though that's all it is. Largish Director warrants at 12p last December in lieu of fees underpins their faith in the company, in my opinion. So feel worth the punt, now that it's stirring!

G D Potts - 26 May 2006 11:28 - 76 of 362

Up 9% today. What are you looking for as a sell price ddoc2?

The bottle that heralds a plastic revolution
By Martin Hickman, Consumer Affairs Correspondent
Published: 29 May 2006
It is the container that could launch a revolution. The first biodegradable bottle has gone on sale in Britain, raising hopes we may one day stop adding to the mountain of plastic packaging accumulating in shopping baskets and landfill sites.

Still up today despite the wider market malaise.

Global Nomad - 30 May 2006 14:04 - 80 of 362

just asking if its more than sentiment for biodegradable connected companies that is creating this rise...?

queen1 - 30 May 2006 22:05 - 81 of 362

Well SYM's recent history has seen it up one day and down the next. Its been rising over the last 3-4 days, including today when once again the general markets took a hammering. So it's got relative strength and whilst some of that may be down to "green" sentiment I feel this is a little different.

Global Nomad - 30 May 2006 23:45 - 82 of 362

good

ddoc2 - 31 May 2006 23:29 - 83 of 362

As ML inferred in the last trading statement- Demand for d2W will grow as countries develop their environmental stance on plastic pollution. The directors have shown their faith in the equity of the Co., and it would seem from the update that the distributors are doing well. The fundamentals are weak in that the financial position isn't clear, the chart needs to go a little further, to clear the long decline ( can the sp stay above the 200ma to create a golden X, or will it fade as in Jan) but the speculation on this little green share is very seductive, so much so that I'm in for the long haul, save any obvious warnings. GD I wouldn't want to predict a sp, I'm pretty much a novice but I like a small speculative punt. Now looking forward to a slow steady rise.

G D Potts - 01 Jun 2006 14:18 - 84 of 362

Good post Ddoc2, lets hope SYM can remain unscathed during the widely anitcipated Bear Run.

queen1 - 01 Jun 2006 18:23 - 85 of 362

Who is widely anticipating a bear run G D? The editorial in Shares today suggested opinion was divided and their outlook was more bullish than bear. Not that I believe everything I read or hear of course but interested in your opinion.

G D Potts - 02 Jun 2006 15:43 - 86 of 362

Queen1, I don't think that any Interest rates will be lowered for a while as there is still inflationary pressure in the US and with Bernanke still fairly new to the post I believe their could be further market dips. The high R.O.I in the US also seems to have had a draining effect on Investment in emerging markets which will hamper their demand for goods, which is currently drving some of our growth.
The political turmoil involved in Iran and Nigeria could push oil prices higher if they decide to cut America off, and then no doubt America will Charge in Tomahawks at the ready and add another country to the Invsasion list, creating world unrest which will no doubt damage the financial markets.
I also see Commodity prices as ripe for a further fall and don't believe in the 25 year super cycle, therefore it is my anticipation that their may soon be a bear run.
However I still have not withdrawn any Investment in the market s and hope that I am wrong, GDP.
