Some positive news for a change:
Sterling Energy announces that petrophysical analysis indicates that multiple pay horizons have been encountered in the Brown1 well ('Thunder Stud') in south Louisiana, for which it is operator (15.0 % WI, 10.8% NRI).
Sterling also announces an increase in its US bank facilities and that an updated Group presentation is available on its website (www.sterlingenergyplc.co.uk) in advance of a planned series of institutional presentations.
The Brown1 reached its target depth of c17,900 feet, was logged and a 5-1/2' production liner has been set. A series of production tests on these zones are planned for later in the year when equipment is available. All new information, including from the testing, will need to be evaluated and incorporated into Sterling's geological interpretation, following which the commercial potential of the well and of the whole project will become clearer.
Sterling's US bank facilities have also been increased by $6.8 million to a total of $61.5 million. This is principally as a result of the successful onshore drilling by the former Whittier company since the start of the year. These facilities are secured against the Whittier assets, which were acquired in late March 2007. Currently, Sterling has Group cash balances of c$37 million and undrawn bank facilities of c$19 million.
Harry Wilson, CEO of Sterling said 'We are very pleased with the initial results of the Whittier deal and the drilling in the US so far this year. Our strengthened team there has the ability to deliver consistent production and reserve increases through drilling and acquisition. Our growing cash flow should help to unlock and expand the upside potential in our international portfolio.'

No sign of the geological cross section of Thunderstud in the presentation on the web site, but yes it's fairly upbeat.
Madagascar looks extremely interesting.
No rush to get in for that however, lots can happen yet either way.
More debt available if they need it, I hope not, but you never know.

Today news will hopefully help sp to break the terrible trend for the past few months, and is now close to breaking the 200dma which could prove crucial for the sp. I may have a punt when this happens. I cant believe a year on the sp is still lower than it was this time last year. Good luck to all holders, its all looking postive for a change. (its been a long time coming for you long termers!)

The sp will not hold here short term imo.
It's the wait for TS that will do the damage meanwhile Ching needs to get much better sooner.
What a difffrence a year made?

None due as far as I can see, except maybe Kurdistan, but that is at least a couple of weeks away if all goes well.

Something very fishy going on with the Friday afternoon trades.
Loads of around 2000 trades as AT and O the latter disguised I suspect, the result a sharp fall near the end, and an N trade (Non Protected Portfolio. This is normally a transaction of a number of stocks dealt with by one market maker at an agreed discount to the market price).
What's afoot I wonder?

The first Chinguetti field (Tullow 19.01%) infill well, C-18, came on production
on 14 March 2007. This well has produced steadily averaging around 4,000 bopd.
Chinguetti gross field production for the first half of 2007 averaged 17,000
bopd, however following a recent two day shutdown of the field, production is
currently around 12,000 bopd due to gas lift problems. Operations are under way
to restore production to pre-shutdown rates.
A 3D and 4D seismic survey of the Chinguetti field was conducted in March 2007
to establish better subsurface definition of the field and to examine the effect
of fluid behaviour within the reservoir since the start of production. This
will allow optimal location of further infill wells which are now planned for
early 2008. This was followed by a 3D survey of the nearby Tiof field (Tullow
21.6%) to gain improved subsurface definition as input to feasibility planning
for the field.
From Tullows trading statement
Tiof is by no means certain it seems.........

AGM Statement
Nothing we did not know, but my figures on the back of a fag packet say the should make $92million USD based on 50 per barrel, and of course the price is averaging much more than that. X rate = $2.06 currently/1, thats gross not net.
Now, how much debt have they got?
