Cynic

You get better odd's playing Bingo , so i have read. And if you bought the max number of Premium bond's you would get an income of 7% from the prize drew from the number of time's that you would win , i think that is what i read

aldwickk - 27 May 2012 12:18 - 697 of 2393

R F

What percentage of your portfolio is invested in FOGL ?

HARRYCAT - 27 May 2012 17:32 - 698 of 2393

I read that the return on Premiun Bonds is approximately 1½%
From Money Saving Expert site: "The value of prizes paid out is determined by an interest rate, which is currently 1.5%. It usually changes when the Bank of England base rate changes. If you owned every Premium Bond in existence, the amount won over a year would be equal to 1.5% of what you put in. So very roughly, for every £100 put into Premium Bonds on average, you'd expect a £1.50 annual return.
Yet because of the way the prizes are allocated, the majority of people will win much less than the interest rate."

About 20%....Aldwickk....and a ratio of 7 FOGL to 1 BOR.....I'm not sure if I should replace the l with a f....but I won't....

cynic - 27 May 2012 20:15 - 700 of 2393

20% in FOGL and 3% in BOR .... with 23% of your portfolio in a couple of very high risk shares no wonder you're sweating

required field - 27 May 2012 22:46 - 701 of 2393

Enjoying the drilling campaign you could say......I wouldn't go any further than that at the moment but the prospects are quite incredible if you take the trouble to read through rns's and pdf presentations for a few hours......all they need now is one more strike of gas condensate or even better light oil and they are in business as so to speak......numerous prospects...loligo with 5 reservoirs..nimrod....scotia....and the present well stebbing with 2 targets......BOR have raised enough money to keep them going and we could have a fifth well spudded if there is sufficient time....great campaign with some incredible possible results.....but I have to agree :...limit your maximums.....don't go further than is possibly acceptable to your sipp or porfolio......as it is I shall stayput......they haven't sent a massive rig costing hundreds of millions of pounds out here without a pretty good chance of finding hydrocarbons in commercial amounts for no reason...

Proselenes - 28 May 2012 02:36 - 702 of 2393

I have a massive chunk if FOGL, am i sweating ? No way, very relaxed.

I'd rather have lots in FOGL now than have lots in RKH/DES at the moment.

RKH has found oil but the reservoir is very complex, all tiny little sands stacked up - very difficult to develop and of low value. The people who lost a packet in DES and then, very late, got into RKH are the ones who are truly worried.

The South Falklands has proven to have very thick "massive" sandstone - unlike the north which has tiny thin stacked sands. The ultra thick massive sandstones of the South are easy to develop. I'd rather have massive thick single sandstone in slightly deeper water than lots of thin stacked sands in slighty shallower water.

The trouble for the North also is that IF the South hits oil then everyone will be "going south" and the north will possibly up as the also ran.

So its easy to see why anyone with an exposure to the northern Falklands stocks or no exposure to any Falky stocks is hoping and praying and sweating like mad in the hope the South Falklands finds no oil.

Cause if the South strikes oil then the stocks will fly like a rocket and everything else will be forgotten.

mcgrath1958 - 28 May 2012 07:27 - 703 of 2393

Proselenes , i have been in this share since April , enjoy reading all these post's including Cynic's. I absolutely agree with your last post 100% about the North/South oil pockets , those Northern stocks as you rightly said will be remembered as the "near also ran's"! You are spot on in my opinion!

markymar - 28 May 2012 07:49 - 704 of 2393

Nothing complex about RKH or DES they have found oil and lots of it.

BOR foung gas no oil

FOGL have found coal no oil.......simple to know which stock to hold.

cynic - 28 May 2012 08:45 - 705 of 2393

MrP - yours is something of a rationalisation ..... IF south hits oil, then assuredly RKH and more arguably DES will benefit as they already have oil, so it just adds to their desirability within the larger scheme of FI in general

required field - 28 May 2012 09:03 - 706 of 2393

It's like the american civil war here...with the confederates and the yankees...

cynic - 28 May 2012 09:08 - 707 of 2393

ah yes - those in the south went bankrupt big time :-)

Proselenes - 28 May 2012 09:10 - 708 of 2393

DES is the worst of them all, imo. They are simply hanging on to RKH's coat tails and add nothing - total avoid imo.

RKH will have a hard job farming out Sea Lion, complex reservoir, thin sands, lots of water around, EOR will struggle given the thin sands and potential breakout of injection into other sands. They might be forced to accept a low value in order to get it moving.

FOGL offers pre-discovery pricing with 2 and maybe even 3 drills ahead - all the potential upside on massive targets - going to be very much higher than where it is now just on the excitement, let alone what happens IF they strike oil or gas (as Loligo is so big its commercial be it gas, condensate or oil).

required field - 28 May 2012 09:16 - 709 of 2393

Exactly...huge upside potential here.....

markymar - 28 May 2012 10:13 - 710 of 2393

So FOGL if they hit oil a huge" if" as only 8% COS will be able to find a partner? it will cost double to extract than the NFB.

Where is the money to come from to do Appraisal on well? dilution written all over it.

Grow up pro stop chucking your dummy out the pram.

DES have hit oil in a number of prospects not just one, they have oil FOGL have nothing but coal there share price will be £10 plus if they hit or 20p if they dont in the near future.

If they hit oil or gas then good for all FI companies.

For a company you rampted out for nearly 2 years and they hit oil it goes to show what a spoilt child you are......grow up!!!!

PS i am holding FOGL only to get off the bus at some point.

required field - 28 May 2012 11:29 - 711 of 2393

Marky....with all due respect...the 8% is a bit ridiculous at this moment.....I know oil companies put a percentage of chances on a well but it's for the city investors to look at...in this case with the very numerous prospects awaiting ; the chances should be a lot higher.

Pessimism Sauce - 28 May 2012 12:10 - 712 of 2393

So much noise and speculation...

FOGL is a risk, but a risk worth taking with the huge potential.

There really is nothing more to be said about that, until the drilling begins.

The oil explorers dream list... A portfolio to put away for 12 months.

........Falklands Oil & Gas - 90p current price

Falkland Oil and Gas, is a South Falklands basin focused oil and gas explorer. The Leiv Eiriksson drilling rig was secured in May 2011 through a deal with Borders & Southern and Ocean Rig 1 and is due to start drilling on FOGL acreage following the completion of Border's stebbing prospect in June/July 2012 at a cost of around $180 million. Two exploration wells will be drilled, Loligo and Scotia or Nimrod. The prospective resources of Loligo are 4.7 billion barrels and Scotia/Nimrod are around 1 billion barrels.

In March 2012 the company announced that it had granted an option to an as yet anonymous company to farm-out a maximum of 25% of the FOGL licences which gives FOGL significant financial leverage to maximise its drilling activities during the remainder of 2012.

Following Borders & Southerns gas find last month in the South Falklands Island basin and the subsequent placing and retracement of BOR's shares, it is intriguing to note that FOGL have largely held onto the gains running into this announcement. It seems the overhang of stock from the rundown of the old RAB Capital portfolio is no longer an issue too.

Regular readers of our magazine will recall our article in the special Feb/Mar Oil Explorers edition on Pages 76 & 77 (Link here - http://www.issuu.com/spreadbetmagazine/docs/advfn) and where we set out the potential upside for this stock. The discovery of hydrocarbons (gas condensate) in the South Island basin by BOR actually de-risks the exploration program of FOGL and make no mistake if they do strike oil in the potential monster prospect that is Loligo the share price will be many multiples higher.

This is a higher risk prospect with substantial upside on a positive drilling outcome but investors should remember that a chance of success (COS) is around 25% for each well. Don't bet the house on this one!

............

Proselenes - 29 May 2012 02:39 - 714 of 2393

Pretty clear, both wells 25% CoS.

No doubt the muppets will try to say that its less than this........ I mean, even GS openly said their 8% was "CONSERVATIVE".......... a point lost on many a muppet.

blackdown - 29 May 2012 07:56 - 715 of 2393

Usual patronising twaddle.
