Management Company ("CRMC") and the American Variable Insurance Series - Global
Small Capitalization Fund managed by CRMC were interested in a total of
30,000,000 ordinary shares in the Company; this represents 4.33% of the issued
share capital of the Company.

The Company received notification on 3 October 2006 that as at 29 September
2006, Credit Suisse Securities (Europe) Limited was interested in a total of
50,127,636 ordinary shares in the Company; this represents approximately 7.24%
of the issued share capital of the Company.

Activities
Sound Oil plc was formed in 2005 for the purpose of evaluating and making investments in energy resource business opportunities in North and West Africa. The investments may be either quoted or unquoted and may be in companies, partnerships, joint ventures or direct investments in specific projects. The Directors believe that, in current market conditions, good opportunities exist for investment in situations that are, in their opinion, undervalued or capable of showing an above average return. The Directors believe that there exists the potential for the Company to generate a high-value portfolio of energy resource assets in North and West Africa. The Company intends to be an active investor. Accordingly, the Company will be directly involved in the ventures in which it participates and will often seek the main management positio
