MrP - yours is something of a rationalisation ..... IF south hits oil, then assuredly RKH and more arguably DES will benefit as they already have oil, so it just adds to their desirability within the larger scheme of FI in general

DES is the worst of them all, imo. They are simply hanging on to RKH's coat tails and add nothing - total avoid imo.
RKH will have a hard job farming out Sea Lion, complex reservoir, thin sands, lots of water around, EOR will struggle given the thin sands and potential breakout of injection into other sands. They might be forced to accept a low value in order to get it moving.
FOGL offers pre-discovery pricing with 2 and maybe even 3 drills ahead - all the potential upside on massive targets - going to be very much higher than where it is now just on the excitement, let alone what happens IF they strike oil or gas (as Loligo is so big its commercial be it gas, condensate or oil).

Marky....with all due respect...the 8% is a bit ridiculous at this moment.....I know oil companies put a percentage of chances on a well but it's for the city investors to look at...in this case with the very numerous prospects awaiting ; the chances should be a lot higher.

So much noise and speculation...
FOGL is a risk, but a risk worth taking with the huge potential.
There really is nothing more to be said about that, until the drilling begins.

........Falklands Oil & Gas - 90p current price
Falkland Oil and Gas, is a South Falklands basin focused oil and gas explorer. The Leiv Eiriksson drilling rig was secured in May 2011 through a deal with Borders & Southern and Ocean Rig 1 and is due to start drilling on FOGL acreage following the completion of Border's stebbing prospect in June/July 2012 at a cost of around $180 million. Two exploration wells will be drilled, Loligo and Scotia or Nimrod. The prospective resources of Loligo are 4.7 billion barrels and Scotia/Nimrod are around 1 billion barrels.
In March 2012 the company announced that it had granted an option to an as yet anonymous company to farm-out a maximum of 25% of the FOGL licences which gives FOGL significant financial leverage to maximise its drilling activities during the remainder of 2012.
Following Borders & Southerns gas find last month in the South Falklands Island basin and the subsequent placing and retracement of BOR's shares, it is intriguing to note that FOGL have largely held onto the gains running into this announcement. It seems the overhang of stock from the rundown of the old RAB Capital portfolio is no longer an issue too.
Regular readers of our magazine will recall our article in the special Feb/Mar Oil Explorers edition on Pages 76 & 77 (Link here - http://www.issuu.com/spreadbetmagazine/docs/advfn) and where we set out the potential upside for this stock. The discovery of hydrocarbons (gas condensate) in the South Island basin by BOR actually de-risks the exploration program of FOGL and make no mistake if they do strike oil in the potential monster prospect that is Loligo the share price will be many multiples higher.
This is a higher risk prospect with substantial upside on a positive drilling outcome but investors should remember that a chance of success (COS) is around 25% for each well. Don't bet the house on this one!

Pretty clear, both wells 25% CoS.
No doubt the muppets will try to say that its less than this........ I mean, even GS openly said their 8% was "CONSERVATIVE".......... a point lost on many a muppet.

No need to get personal guys. I am long because I am an optimist that FOGL will hit the black stuff and find a farm-in partner.
I am with Pro on this and also with DES being on the avoid list.

Proselenes,
Whilst it is obvious you are very pro FOGL, and that is not a criticism as I am also of that mind, comments such as 'RKH will have a hard job farming out Sea Lion, complex reservoir, thin sands, lots of water around' do nothing for your credibility.
Whilst I can't argue that Fogl are a very good bet (I have FOGL as well as RKH) such comments cant be quantified.
Rockhopper have oil that all the reports that I have read state is in commercial amounts, and I have no doubt that either a farm-in or a straight buy out for Sealion is going to be no problem.
Rockhopper have already stated that there are several companies interested, and they have a good record of being straight and open with their share holders.

I am not actually anti-RKH, you have to take some of it with a pinch of salt, I do like winding up some people :)

I often wind people up, but when I do it is always very clear that I am doing so.
The problem is, if it is not made clear, people will take what you say seriously, resulting in either mistrust or worse, none belief in what is being said.
Anyway, I strongly feel both Rkh and Fogl will make us money.

Marky & Pro are like an old married couple who can't live with each other, but can't live without each other! If they pooled their knowledge & research the end result would be worth reading, but as it is, we are left watching a moody sitcom!
