On 18 May'09 there was news of StatoilHydro has reached agreement with BPC to become the
operator of three offshore exploration licences

Chief Operating Officer Paul Crevello said :
"Some of the structures are very large. There is potential for multiple 500 million cubic meter (of reserves) fields,"
"BPC was also interested in "farming out" to partners its remaining five licences offshore Bahamas."

Now at 3.75p, Broker Fox-davies has a 13p price target on the company.

the share price rise was to do with the turning on the chart and then the BREAKOUT

I think that the specific reason for the movement is obviously pure speculation but this could be a transformational year for BPC. Hmm, transformational! Nice word. Have I heard it before somewhere?!

March 11 (Reuters) – Bahamas Petroleum Co Plc said its farm-out talks with interested parties had been given a boost after the government of the Bahamas decided to defer a referendum on the future of offshore oil exploration in the country.

Shares in the company were up 53 percent at 7.28 pence at 0814 GMT, making them among the top percentage gainers on the London Stock Exchange.

The government said on Sunday a referendum would only be conducted once the presence and scale of petroleum reserves had been established, allowing Bahamas Petroleum to proceed with exploratory drilling.

"Farm-out discussions remain ongoing with a number of interested parties and this clarification of the consultation process provides significant impetus and clarity for potential farm-in partners," Bahamas Petroleum said in a statement. [ID:nRS2N8SdN] A farm-out is when a company sells an interest in an asset to a third party.

The company had its oil drilling permits renewed by the government in September, ending months of speculation that they would not be extended.

Me too, for now!

It's not dead yet! The Bahamian government are such a bunch of cowards! Time they woke up, however there is at least one eye beginning to flicker open! Mind you, if you can't laze around wasting time in the Bahamas where else can you?! :o)

A good rise over the last month and then normal service is resumed as it returns all of those gains and more this morning.

SP firming in recent days, let's hope it can continue.

Long may it continue as I have held these for a long time and most of it under water!

Up more than 50% in a fortnight with no news. I've had a core holding in BPC for a long time, and also traded them a couple of years ago when in the low 20's and high teens, be nice to re-visit those prices.
