Turbo Power Systems...consistent contract wins. 2007 Turnaround? (TPS)

Dynamite - 16 May 2007 08:23

TPS, formally Turbo Genset has been in my portfolio for some time (2004 I think I bought it). Basically I bought it when I first started buying shares and watched it go down because of operating losses. Having watched it go down to a point where it wasn't worth selling I have kept this 'dog' and watched some more...not the best way to run a portfolio.
Over the past year or so TPS have consitently won new contracts and I do feel that after bottoming out at 8p ish that the future of this company is a good one. They just quietly plug away at running their business and sooner or later they are going to get noticed and make profits. My dog could become a thoroughbred yet!
Here is the latest note about them in T1ps yesterday;
'Electrical power solutions operator Turbo Power Systems (TPS) saw its shares firm 0.625p to 8.625p following news of a contract win. Revelations of further orders worth 1.2 million pounds from the National Railway Equipment for traction motor controllers were accompanied by first quarter figures. Numbers for the first quarter to 31st March showed a 25% reduction in losses to 1.4 million pounds, as a 122% rise in production and development income to 2.4 million pounds was recorded.'

Fairly big peanuts, for this poor investor at least :-)

Dynamite - 23 May 2007 11:29 - 9 of 24

Oh dear Queen ...my peanuts were 10% of my portfolio but luckily my portfolio is now 100's of % bigger due to nice tasty profits elsewhere.
By the way only 122 to go now :-)

Where did you rack up the profits Dynamite?

Dynamite - 23 May 2007 14:05 - 11 of 24

erm...NOP(x2 several Times), SEO (4p-26p), KMR, GFM, ZOO (x2 several times), PDX (6 times doubled money) GOO, AIMR ,OXB, VML and a few others, lost on NML, SUB, YOO and TPS but not much in comparison.

Very impressive! I've done very well in the past on JKX, DFD, EDR, JLP, SEY etc but have had far more losers unfortunately :-(

Still, the most you can lose is 100% of your stake but the upside on rare occasions can be far greater as you've experienced!

Dynamite - 23 May 2007 20:46 - 13 of 24

Well done Queen! I had JKX in my early days and got fed up waiting...bought 36p and sold it at 46p and then a little while late...whooosh...still can't win them all ;-)

queen1 - 24 May 2007 12:45 - 14 of 24

Thanks :-) I had them at 40p and sold c.160p but silll missed out on a lot. Still, a profit is a profit as they say. I've recently just bought in again actually as the price is 25% off their highs and they're spreading their exploration risk outside of the Ukraine.

(Turbo) Loan Notes!
Arranged about June08 - look to have been modified in the light of further drawdowns - DYOR - it looks like IF the co. goes into administration the LN-holders are entitled to their money+interest... Plus 100% = wow!....that shows desperation, or what?

I note that they ann. an order for some expensive Battery chargers (Bombadier) which is not a "very big Deal" but obviously most welcome. Unfortunately this does not start until 2009. They really need a broader sales pitch, but I don't follow this with my own money. Current sp =1.875 a far cry from years ago =Turbo Genset......why the name-change I wonder? - If you're going to, change it....etc.

IC suggested "sell" last week, so the 16% fall today may be that working out - so, now Turbo - prove them wrong!
EDIT-(29Jy09)-Wow, 70%rise on modest purchases....shows what "flat-earthers" will pay?
+Note that, just recently, Dirs awarded 1m each, Options exercisable at 1.38p so, if this ever gets to 14p they will make100grand - pretty good for no effort, eh? I note thata already the sp is nearly doubled....No not because of any effort, just mm's trying to kick a punctured ball onto the pitch.
EDIT (26Oct09)-Another bounce-up (2.25p=Buy) - on fantastic News (after recent Dir Options, don't you know . . . but this has been a 5-yr disapointer and is dual-listed (Toronto) and has no "Fundamentals" showing = Bargepoles, eh?

Turbo Power Systems said it has received a spare parts purchase order from Bombardier Transportation worth $3.2 million.

The order forms part of the $14.2m contract to supply the Chicago Transit Authority with auxiliary power units for its new fleet of metro subway cars. The original agreement included a number of options, one of which was to purchase spare parts, which Bombardier Transportation has now activated.

This phase of the order was expected to be fulfilled during 2013 and 2014, Turbo Power Systems said in a statement.

Nice one Baylis.

the manageress - 16 May 2013 21:29 - 20 of 24

Quite a nice steady upward trend starting to form, this could be the turning point in this companies fortunes.

the manageress - 04 Jun 2013 17:32 - 21 of 24

Top climber of the all share index today, can't seem to find any news. Anyone!

4PetesSake - 04 Jun 2013 23:37 - 22 of 24

There are rumours about a possible £29m contracts for a a system that will go into the dreamliner. If its not right, TPS could be a massive faller tomorrow. The rise is based on pure speculation.

the manageress - 05 Jun 2013 09:43 - 23 of 24

Thanks for that 4P a fall today however not massive and it looks as if the buyers are beginning to filter back in.

4PetesSake - 05 Jun 2013 10:04 - 24 of 24

This is a real rollercoaster share, getting in and out at the right time could see mega profits.
