I think we will have to agree to differ on most points.

But I must say that on immigration, my view is on the single fact, we are an overcrowded island, we have no room. I feel we should ban all immigration unless it can be proven the immigrant can benefit the UK. And all immigration means those from all countries. For many years I have loved Greece but due to not wishing to be that distance from family have not emigrated to that country. But if I was to apply and the Greek Government said, 'sorry we have no room' I would have to accept that. Also if I was accepted, I would expect to abide by all their laws. I would not expect to be carried by the Greek people and be supplied with housing, social security befits, interpretors and so on. The UK are the mug of the world.
If we were the worlds lifeboat, we would have sunk by now.

As to vote Tory and I may get another less able spiv, I can only agree, Yes I might. But I am willing to take that risk for my previously mentioned reason. It can't get worse (at least I hope not).

What I do respect it your obvious strong feelings. If it wasn't for the likes of you and me, we would never get change/reform. It is the silent majority that roll over and except that get me riled.

PS. When I was a student 50 years ago, I wandered (hitch hiked) around Europe meeting in YHA students from all ove the World and Europe in particular.

I realised then that the majority of us aspired to the same ideals and hopes for ourselves and others.

Since that period I have generally though of myself as a European except when Wales is hammering England at Rugby.

Also since that time believe in the free movement or immigration of people across borders.

However, although still believing in the above I did not foresee the size of the immigration or some of the problems associated with it.

My wife is an European migrant and one of my daughters works in the home office on European immigration problems and policy. The problems are complex, sometimes bewidering and without easy resolution.

Been on many discussion sites/forums over the years, with the vast majority degenerating into personal attacks, foul language and the like. On this forum/site that very rarely happens. Perhaps we should form a new political party. One that allows debate to a grown up level, something that the main 3 political parties often don't appear to achieve.

I would immediately stamp out government corruption.

Of course setting up such a party would be costly. Anyone out there with a few million quid to spare. Domicility of donors not questioned. Donors will also be eligible for government posts. The level of seniority/post will obviously be determined by skill/qualification level and not on the value of their monetary donation.

Now what could we call ourselves.

Tabasco. Minister for policy.
Mnamreh. Minister for education and the arts.

By the way can anyone explain the rules of Rugby. Last time I watched it there was all this handling of the ball and the ref did nothing about it.
Also several goals were way over the crossbar and yet they were still allowed.

When I reclaimed England for the Welsh I didn't realise the problems I would have dealing with the lower ranks.

Mind some of the occupants were/are quite socialised and reasonably
civilised. One or two even intelligent, benefiting from the emigration of the Welsh train teachers in the 30s and 50s.

I thought T. Blair was a tory mole, who led the Labour Party astray.

To me he was and still is an international disaster and responsible for much of the present problems in the Middle East problems.

If you are old enough, refer back to the 1998-2007 period of economic growth and individual materialistic growth, Germany and France were almost in recession for large periods of that time with higher % unemployment.

During that period, even if GB had attempted to reform banking sector and make changes to the financial institutions in the "City", they would have been rejected by the City and the populace in general.

Whether, or not, he was aware of the depth of the presenting problems in the financial markets, I don't know. Those suggesting any ideas of harnessing the "financial institutions, were barracked, or howled down.

Many of those on these threads did very well buying and selling property and/or trading a bullish run in the markets. (I thought it could not continue, but didnt expect the crazy period to last for so long.)

A bit like MacMillan's "You have never had it so good period", or the Maggie period for those making money, during the selloff of the "Country's Silver" at the same time letting the countrys infrastructure crumble.

I think governments, in general, try to improve a country for all, some more so than others, but governing is the art of the obtaining what is possible.
