Pessimism Sauce - 13 Jun 2012 16:28 - 814 of 2393

The economic background certainly seems to be getting into a prime position, lets hope FOGL hit the black stuff.

Gerponville18 - 13 Jun 2012 19:36 - 815 of 2393

Hi Guy's. New to the Oil and Gas stocks.............A little bit of me is still where my career started, which was in the "Petro Chemical Industry". This does not mean however, that I have the experience you guys have, in buying into explorer stocks.

So I hope you guys don't mind me joining your Oil and Gas threads......never too late to learn!

I have been buying and selling shares in the following stocks for the past 12 months now..........I hope I have/am doing the right thing, I'm sure you will let me know if I am/not?

These stocks are;

1) Falklands Oil and Gas
2) Border and Southern
3) Range Resources
4) Petroceltic

I have studied the Falklands for a number of years now.........I have not got a crystal ball, but there is black gold in them deep water!?

aldwickk - 13 Jun 2012 21:48 - 816 of 2393

Gerponville18

Why no Rockhopper ?

Proselenes - 14 Jun 2012 06:02 - 817 of 2393

Yep, just needs a few bank bail outs sorted and then when they announce QE3 the markets will go into booooom time along with all the pension values in the USA, just in time to make people happy for the US elections.

Few more weeks of volatility and then you will see that chart continue its move on upwards to greed........

aldwickk - 13 Jun 2012 14:44 - 808 of 816
The chart look's like we are entering the greed time

Gerponville18 - 14 Jun 2012 06:21 - 818 of 2393

aldwickk

I Know, Rockhopper seemed a little expensive when I finally entered the Oil and Gas Stocks..........I think I should. Keep you posted on that one.

Gulf Keystone Petroleum look good what to you guy's think?

Anyway, how many more times to buy into the Falklands Oil and Gas and sell prior to take off.............I am more nervous not being in the stock than I am owning them?

greekman - 14 Jun 2012 07:20 - 819 of 2393

Hi Gerponville,

Nothing to add, except welcome.
Look forward to some knowledgeable 'Petro Chemical Industry' comments.

Greek.

Good news for all Falklands companies who have oil, or condensate/gas or who are soon to be drilling for oil........

From yesterday's statement on the Falklands referendum in the UK House of Commons.

Jim Shannon (Strangford) (DUP): I thank the Minister for his commitment to a referendum for the people of the Falklands. Oil has recently been discovered off the Falkland Islands. Will he assure the House that full protection will be given to any of the companies exploring for oil, that the benefit of any oil revenue will go to the people of the Falkland Islands and that any aggression from Argentina will be seen off?

Mr Lidington: The revenues from any successful oil and gas development will indeed accrue to the Falkland Islands Government. They have voluntarily said that they would want to share some of that revenue with the United Kingdom to offset the cost of our defence expenditure towards the islands. I can assure the hon. Gentleman that we will do everything necessary to protect the legal right of the Falkland Islands to continue with hydrocarbon development.

Pessimism Sauce - 14 Jun 2012 12:29 - 822 of 2393

Gerponville, curious to know how many times you've traded...I've held FOGL for about a month now, not sold and bought back in (i am new to investing) .... Am i doing it right :S?

Proselenes - 14 Jun 2012 13:54 - 823 of 2393

Good strength, looks like the farm out deal is perhaps in the final approval stages now and news could come next week or the week after.

Gerponville18 - 14 Jun 2012 15:14 - 824 of 2393

Hi Pessimism Sauce,

If this makes sense, apologies if not; I generally commence my investment with a set amount.........Then I listen and gain as much information as possible, then follow the share. Wait to the share gets to a new high and recoup my initial investment, leave the gain in the stock, then wait to the share drops, this is the hard bit, when to re-enter the stock.

It works for me! The danger is that when take-off occurs, and you are not in the stock, then you only have the gains. If you have managed to "overtake" your initial investment, then happiness is. It hurts though, if the stock drops to the basement.

I do feel though, that there are gallons of that thick black stuff below those deep waters.

halifax - 14 Jun 2012 15:45 - 825 of 2393

gallons or barrels, definitely an oil expert,or just another disguised ramper?

aldwickk - 14 Jun 2012 15:56 - 826 of 2393

Hali

gallons can also indicate that he is over 60 years old

Gerponville18 - 14 Jun 2012 15:57 - 827 of 2393

Sorry Halifax.......Barrels. I am not a ramper by the way. I am a fully genuine investor, interested in all kinds of stocks. My father got my initial interest in the Falkland Isles, as he served there in the naval forces. He says they were talking oil 40 years ago!

The stock will rise on the back of a potential find.........Not a ramp

halifax - 14 Jun 2012 15:58 - 828 of 2393

ald who isn't?

Pessimism Sauce - 14 Jun 2012 15:59 - 829 of 2393

My view is that trading is gambling and gambling is a fools game!

I think it may be important to crystalise on profits (if any) before the drill announcements. I'd love for there to be black stuff on the first drill but it could be anything i guess. no one actually knows.

HARRYCAT - 14 Jun 2012 16:02 - 830 of 2393

h, there's only one true cynic on these boards, the rest of us are only sceptics, disparagers or doubters.
Now, what was the name of that thick black stuff again??? ;o)

greekman - 15 Jun 2012 06:58 - 831 of 2393

Hi Pessimism Sauce,

Whilst agreeing that gambling 'can' be a fools game, like most things, there is no harm in moderation.
I gamble.
I have 1 bet on the horses per year, The National, about £10.
I have £2 per week on the lottery.

If I ever become one of the lottery millionaires, I will not think of myself as a fool.

Mind you, I regularly see people in our local shop spending pounds on all sorts of lottery tickets, scratch cards, the lot. They no doubt started off as foolish, and have probably reached the addiction stage.

Actually, investing in the stock market, or in fact any investment where there is no guarantee of full money return, is a form of gambling.
