THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Looks like I spoke too soon re adult conversation without the insults. And that comment is aimed at more than one poster. Please don't let this thread degenerate to the level of some on MoneyAm.

The problem is one offensive insult often attracts a reply in the same vein.

If, or when, I respond to you in an abusive manner, it is in generally in response to personal remarks, which you seem to delight in, when you post on the various threads concerning me.

I make no apologies for doing so.

I have no objection to having any argument I advance being savaged, dismantled, debunk in a serious, humorous, or jocular manner, but in general, I do not like personal denigration of myself, or others.

I do debunk my own arguments, stances and allegiances more frequently than you may suppose. Generally, it is with a chuckle.

However, as the majority know, many of the arguments, which I advance, are tongue in cheek.

But what does get up my nose, since I was very young, is the ganging up by some, who attempt to bully, or abuse others.

Luckily, I am a lot bigger and thicker skinned than most, and it has not been a problem for me.

Your remarks about me are of no consequence, but once again I suggest you reread your postings.
If what I have written is irrelevant to you, so be it.

Fred1new - 03 Feb 2010 17:24 - 8177 of 81564

Greek, yes Dad.

But, But, But.

I have this vision of Maggie and Tabs, going up or down the aisle together!

Back to the charts!

tabasco - 03 Feb 2010 17:28 - 8178 of 81564

Maggie could have prevented a War Fredand she is a 100 years older than meI dare say you would lend her one? lol

Fred1new - 03 Feb 2010 17:47 - 8179 of 81564

Tabs,

The only thing I would lend Maggie, is a plot in the back garden.

The one next to Arthur's.

I do read your comments (and learn), but haven't started hearing them.

One thing I learned is that I am glad I stopped backing horses 53 years ago!

(I worked out I was spending 4 hours a day, reading the papers looking at books and not making a buck. Decided to listen to the lectures on probability.

greekman - 03 Feb 2010 18:31 - 8180 of 81564

Fred1,

As I have previously said, you are obviously passionate about your views. I don't have any problem with those views. I may disagree with most of them re the political comments but I have enjoyed the debate. Please don't think I was having a go at anyone, its just as said I do enjoy the debate and want to continue doing so.

Regards to all. Supporters of Labour/Conservatives/Greens/UKIP/Communists/ and the Liberals (OK perhaps not the Liberals).

jimmy b - 03 Feb 2010 19:37 - 8182 of 81564

Maggie ,i used to have dreams about her ,must be the powerful woman thing..

Fred1new - 03 Feb 2010 19:43 - 8183 of 81564

Greek,

You haven't offended me and I hope I haven't offended you. If I did so, it was unintentional.

I can't agree with your choice of political party, but as you are a reasonable man, I can at the very least attempt to challenge the reasons for doing so, and lead along the right path. 8-)

I am not a member of the labour, or any other party, but I do respect G Browns intellect and many of many of the attempts at "social changes" he has attempted to make in this country and the World in general.

Change is difficult.

Personally, I think he is as honest as a politician can be, and as is obvious I agree with a lot of what he is attempting to do.

When he proposed QE, I thought it was sensible, as it has turned out to be.

Not to have done so would have been a catastrophe for many of poorer members of the population, mainly those unable to fend for themselves. I think the tories would not have done it, until much later and prepared to accept the hardships of the others.

At that time there was "howling and feeble snarling by the usual pack.

When I condemned Israel for their actions in Gaza for using Phosphorus Bombs and other humanitarian crimes, I was referred to, as less than compos mentis.

I was critical of many Palestinian actions. Ie. I thought both side had fault, but their actions were not helping.

Again the pack got together and were again abusive.

I must admit I enjoy being the Devils advocate and the abuse was fairly feeble, but aimed at the messenger rather than the message. Pitiful really!

I hope to continue in my chosen role.

Have a good day to-morrow!

Jimmy,

You were lucky, others had nightmares.

jimmy b - 03 Feb 2010 22:18 - 8184 of 81564

It wasnt about politics Fred ,,,can't believe i just admitted that.

kimoldfield - 03 Feb 2010 23:47 - 8185 of 81564

It was about the power with Maggie wasn't it?!

MightyMicro - 03 Feb 2010 23:48 - 8186 of 81564

Fred:You're paranoid. There is no pack. That is just absurd. You're not that important.

jimmy b - 04 Feb 2010 03:43 - 8187 of 81564

Kim ,,it was ,,,sad as it might seem i had dreams of her shouting me down , thats all i'm saying ,i dont want to take this any further.

greekman - 04 Feb 2010 07:41 - 8188 of 81564

Fred1,

I never took offence as I never felt any intended.

MightyMicro,

I took it that The Pack was referring to the pack against Gordon Brown.
When it comes to Politics all sides have their packs, hangers on, wimps, liars etc with a very thin smattering of those who are genuine trying to do their best for the country and not themselves.

tabasco - 04 Feb 2010 08:32 - 8189 of 81564

Greekyou guessed wrongFred is talking about the pack that I call the Groovy Gang professionally paid to slag a stock and drive down the priceI very rarely use their BB nameas I believe the bashers are paid every time its mentioned then no wonder they get frustrated with mehopefully they are not getting paid a pennybut it is amusing to see the concern they show for us investorssome sit eight hours on a keyboard talking about a stock they dont even ownjust to convince othersit is best to sell.I think Fred has a good written piece about themI also havebut probably filed it under duck lamb boeufsorry I meant Beauf!!!!

greekman - 04 Feb 2010 09:07 - 8190 of 81564

Tabasco,

Like you I believe that there are share rampers/de-rampers out there. You often see the same names on double figure threads ramping/de-ramping every share they can.
I don't think they are paid, although there has been the odd hint some are, I feel they just want to talk the sp up/down for their own ends.
There is one on MoneyAm (no names, no pack drill, but we all know these posters) who on my last count about a year ago was posting on at least 15 threads, always bashing the sp, usually without much in the way of back-up augment, views, opinions. He still posts but he has been on my squelch list for a couple of years, so I never see the drivel he writes.

I have little problem with these posters as they are so obvious.

I would sooner read a view well argued that does not agree with mine, than an agreeing view with comments such as, Buy/Sell now, this will Zoom/Bomb and the like.

Fred1new - 04 Feb 2010 17:31 - 8191 of 81564

Hasn't it gone quiet?

Tabby frightened them all off.

A bit like the H.of P.

I find it strange how the Inland Revenue are prepared to investigate false declaration of Cash payments for small business, solicitors, Barristers medics etc. for up to 18years and yet they seem loathed to show interest in MP's expense / income claims.

Sometimes I think there is something wrong in out system.

Fred1new - 04 Feb 2010 17:33 - 8192 of 81564

The crazy gang will slag anything off for nowt.

Attempting to reduce to their own level.

greekman - 04 Feb 2010 17:52 - 8193 of 81564

Fred1,

Re MP's expenses and The Inland Revenue, it is a case of, 'He who pays the Piper, calls the tune'.

Many a truth in old sayings.

Still waiting to see how many MPs are going to be prosecuted. Not holding my breath as expecting the CPS to state that prosecutions are, 'Not in the public interest'.
