With hindsight : could have played this one in the Isa with a sale and a rebuy......trouble is don't have the time to monitor it all the time.....and prefer to be in than out as I reckon this company is going places...

Hi Rf,
Not sure if you mean sell share not in an ISA, then buy back into an ISA, but if so when I did a 'bed and Isa' a couple of years ago, I was out of the market for less than 2 minutes. Best though to check with your broker as to how long it will take.
Mine would not allow me to do it on line, only via the phone so he could confirm sale and buy.

does not the 30 day rule apply to ISAs?

In an isa there are no taxable gains, hence you can buy and sell at will....if you are a trader you can buy and sell at will in or outside an isa...doesn't matter....this 30 day rule needs to be abolished ! as it is a farce...who does it penalise ?...the small investor as usual...and how do you count the 30 days ? day 1 starts when exactly ?....it's a mess...

I was going to post the same. Surely the 30 day rule is a CGT calculation, which is not applicable in an ISA?

No - although most providers will, for obvious reasons, have cut off dates -
...............Certificates Funds ........Shares
Bed & ISA 17 March 31 March 1 April
Bed & SIPP 17 March 24 March 30 March

To do with matching rules....but it's a mess....I cannot see the point of it....nightmare to work out the cgt....

harry - exactly so, which is why it may be forbidden within an ISA

Put simplistically, when you sell shares and repurchase in an ISA / SIPP, the latter is deemed to be the new owner by the revenue and are not subject to the 30 day matching rule.

not sure whether or not this is worth a dabble/trade
clearly it has momentum, whether or not that is for good reason - don't forget how cheap oil/petrol is currently - but i also note some hefty MM potential sales at only a little above the the current price

If their technology or that from the likes of ITM etc ultimately becomes mainstream or whether some, as yet unknown technology comes along rendering the above redundant, is anybody's guess - but I feel its worth having a small interest in a few that have the potential to do well - as ever though, they are largely thankless shares to hold - until....

the key word is "ultimately"!
this share has had several false dawns and as far as i can see, the current surge is primarily lemming-driven

I guess its horses for courses.
For me - I like to have a holding - albeit small - in any potential new technology - from the likes of these to 3D printing of liver cells.
They are never going to make me rich or poor in the numbers and spread of companies that I deal in, but it beats gambling! :-)

It's rising mainly because of commercial development and their latest rns is just the beginning......with many more to come.....and it seems the market agrees and you can't argue with that....

RF - i don't doubt AFC's aim and that it is probably a leader in its fledgling field, but it might justifiably be argued that sp is getting ahead of the game
of course that doesn't mean there might not be a decent turn to be made as a quick trade

Two ways to play this Cynic....for an immediate profit or looking at the longterm prospects for the company or perhaps better still a third option is perhaps a free ride those that can sell 50% and keep the rest ...that sort of thing....problem is you have to watch all the time or set up some buy and sell orders....I think there is a lot more to come yet....and it will be very interesting to see what the next few rns's are going to be about....I am staying put at least for now....
