Staying up with the Blue Chips!!

Impressive start to the day.

As speculated by yourself and proptrade.

Next stop 20 p this week??

ramraid - 28 Jun 2004 08:38 - 85 of 7811

i just noticed more shares have changed hand so far this morning than SHELL now that's interesting, i think a lot of the CAIRN people are jumping in with some of their profits , as i said on the CAIRN board "it's a free bet" how often can you play with their money ??

seawallwalker - 28 Jun 2004 08:42 - 86 of 7811

Not often.

If I ever get some of theirs, I will do the same.

It's those 20 wells that are drawing the interest. Stike on one and they will be winning, stike of a third and this share will be outstanding. Any more and I will loan the the Government!

Got to dream hey!

seawallwalker - 28 Jun 2004 08:44 - 87 of 7811

I also have 7000 HNR who I think, but can not prove by research that they are partners with SEY along with Woodside?

I have assumed this because of the previous finds in Mauritannia.

ramraid - 28 Jun 2004 09:02 - 88 of 7811

over 2million shares traded in the first hour, that is incredible..........

seawallwalker - 28 Jun 2004 09:09 - 89 of 7811

It is about to pop the 15.75p level.

Well, fantastic start to the day, are you still abroad ramraid? if yes have a good evening(?) and maybe speak later.

Thanks for your input, it helped with confidence to hold these till the news came out.

Best

ramraid - 28 Jun 2004 09:17 - 90 of 7811

yes mate, still in taiwan, i will have a good evening, SEY are making sure of that today, let's keep this going, we'll obviously get a mention tomorrow, this much trading won't escape the eyes of the anlysts or the financial press..

proptrade - 28 Jun 2004 09:53 - 91 of 7811

well i am certainly not on the wacky baccy but feel as happy as someone who is.

simply put this is a great story and will continue to propel upwards on this momentum.

nice dialogue this morning, how do we get this view across to a wider audience?

ramraid - 28 Jun 2004 10:00 - 92 of 7811

well seeing as over 4 million shares have been traded so far this morning , i think the wider audience is already taking notice..

proptrade - 28 Jun 2004 10:10 - 93 of 7811

agreed, i just couldn't be bothered to type it above!

what i really meant was getting this into a wider discusssion and more importantly having press coverage in the broadsheets.

i think there is a distinct possibility that this could turn intop a cairn situation and i am thinking of having a bit more of a swing in this than i already have...do you have any idea of when the first well will spud?

ramraid - 28 Jun 2004 10:20 - 94 of 7811

if they start drilling at the beginning of august, dependent on the depth of water 8-12 weeks is usual ,the wells are normally known as say a 60 day well, 90 day well etc, they are usually behind by a few days, due to weather conditions, technical difficulties etc, then they will cap the well head, by filling it up with cement and move onto to the next well, once the core comes onto the drill floor the geologists will take samples and from this they can tell how many parts per million of oil there is , very scientific, but the geologists can usually hazard a rough guestimate just on the appearance alone.

hope that helps, i was a mechanical engineer so i'm not completely conversant with the drilling side of things, i just made sure they had enough power to drill..

proptrade - 28 Jun 2004 11:20 - 95 of 7811

that helps alot, thx.

i have traded quite a few exploration stocks so am familiar with the protracted process. had a great result with NOVUS petroleum in Australia (they were taken over by Medco), and am currently in a small cap there with a bit of promise but who knows. my real money stays with Sterling and i think i am going to add.

how is taiwan?

proptrade - 28 Jun 2004 12:13 - 96 of 7811

5 MILLION TRADED...

seawallwalker - 28 Jun 2004 14:28 - 97 of 7811

Hovering at 15.75p.

Those that bought last time ithit that albeit breifly are selling now.

Obviously not up to date, these punters.

Do your own research...............etc.

Andy - 28 Jun 2004 22:49 - 98 of 7811

seawallwalker,

I agree, now is a curious time to sell, with all the potentially good news that MAY arrive during the course of the next few months.

Everyone has their own agendas and timescales, but I would have thought SEY was worth holding for at least the short term, particularly as it is currently rising!

ramraid - 29 Jun 2004 04:05 - 99 of 7811

andy,

couldn't agree more, we just have to be careful that at some stage that greed doesn't get the better of us, i've made that mistake in the past, i've now sold all my Cairn bar 2k's worth, they may go further but i've made nearly 20k off them, i'm delighted with that, i hope they go further for all the other shareholders but i have almost trebled my money. i've put 10k in SEY and happy to let it run , in the near term. i think it would be foolish to sell just as the excitement is about to start IMO, if they almost double by christmas then i'll be thinking of reducing heavily, then putting more funds in my "damn boring portfolio" where i can relax in the knowledge that high yeilding, sector diverification, will give me some protected exposure to the market and just have a few friendly bets on very small companies.
