THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

He won mastermind many years ago?

Fred1new - 15 Feb 2010 17:21 - 8306 of 81564

Easy, daughters. I am just trying to expand their capacity to think logically and less egocentrically.

"But Dad, there are many who won't be able to do that"!

Dad, "But there are some who will be able to think, and not just react as if they are programmed.

They will enjoy questioning their own positions, and some will have the flexibility to modify their stances, or argue and validate the positions which they hold.

Sometimes, when they concentrate on the subject under discussion the responses are interesting and very sensible and informative.

But, sometimes the response are a bit infantile and meaningless utterances and grunts."

Daughter, "you mean like the Junior School's playground, where they call each other names and want to fight and bully others, who they see as different."

Daughter, "I like discussing different things and sometimes it can be fun!"

"Me too daughter, I am glad we agree on something."

Next question?

Not sure whether they have a section for 'Passionate Labour Party Activists', but who knows? Perhaps Fred,as a 'great briton', could still apply and take his passion to the next level?

NM,

I am half way with you.

And words such as "absolutely" and the others I can't recall, should all be struck out of the dictionary.

I have a daughter who has lost he way, and after having degrees in Psychology, Linguistics and , multiple qualifications in language has gone back to university to study "linguistic pathology".

I think, I am partially responsible for her pathology, by encouraging her not to take statements as facts, and to ask the question "Why?".

Unfortunately, for me, her sisters have are similarly inclined and at times their mother can be equally challenging.

Thankfully, they also have a sense of humour.

Fred1new - 15 Feb 2010 22:14 - 8315 of 81564

PS.

Actually, is one of the other words.

Actually, "three" is a word I have difficulty in pronouncing.

MightyMicro - 15 Feb 2010 23:51 - 8316 of 81564

God, they would have to have a sense of humour to live with Fred.

To the uninitiated: my opinions and utterances are so repulsive to our dear Fred that he has 'squelched' me so has rendered himself unable to enjoy what passes for my wit and wisdom. I am, therefore, at liberty to say what I like about him here without any danger of offending him - if that were to be a concern of mine.

I am enjoying this situation far more than I thought possible.
