AFC Energy plc (AFC)

skinny - 16 Mar 2015 10:14 - 831 of 1468

No - although most providers will, for obvious reasons, have cut off dates -

...............Certificates Funds ........Shares
Bed & ISA 17 March 31 March 1 April
Bed & SIPP 17 March 24 March 30 March

required field - 16 Mar 2015 10:21 - 832 of 1468

To do with matching rules....but it's a mess....I cannot see the point of it....nightmare to work out the cgt....

cynic - 16 Mar 2015 10:28 - 833 of 1468

harry - exactly so, which is why it may be forbidden within an ISA

skinny - 16 Mar 2015 10:47 - 834 of 1468

Put simplistically, when you sell shares and repurchase in an ISA / SIPP, the latter is deemed to be the new owner by the revenue and are not subject to the 30 day matching rule.

cynic - 16 Mar 2015 11:08 - 835 of 1468

thanks skinny for you clearly speak as a man of authority

skinny - 16 Mar 2015 11:12 - 836 of 1468

Hardly - just ask my grandchildren! :-)

cynic - 16 Mar 2015 11:15 - 837 of 1468

not sure whether or not this is worth a dabble/trade
clearly it has momentum, whether or not that is for good reason - don't forget how cheap oil/petrol is currently - but i also note some hefty MM potential sales at only a little above the the current price

skinny - 16 Mar 2015 11:21 - 838 of 1468

If their technology or that from the likes of ITM etc ultimately becomes mainstream or whether some, as yet unknown technology comes along rendering the above redundant, is anybody's guess - but I feel its worth having a small interest in a few that have the potential to do well - as ever though, they are largely thankless shares to hold - until....

cynic - 16 Mar 2015 11:23 - 839 of 1468

the key word is "ultimately"!
this share has had several false dawns and as far as i can see, the current surge is primarily lemming-driven

skinny - 16 Mar 2015 11:29 - 840 of 1468

I guess its horses for courses.

For me - I like to have a holding - albeit small - in any potential new technology - from the likes of these to 3D printing of liver cells.

They are never going to make me rich or poor in the numbers and spread of companies that I deal in, but it beats gambling! :-)

cynic - 16 Mar 2015 11:31 - 841 of 1468

i have 3D too and also RM2

required field - 16 Mar 2015 11:54 - 842 of 1468

It's rising mainly because of commercial development and their latest rns is just the beginning......with many more to come.....and it seems the market agrees and you can't argue with that....

cynic - 16 Mar 2015 11:58 - 843 of 1468

RF - i don't doubt AFC's aim and that it is probably a leader in its fledgling field, but it might justifiably be argued that sp is getting ahead of the game
of course that doesn't mean there might not be a decent turn to be made as a quick trade

required field - 16 Mar 2015 12:07 - 844 of 1468

Two ways to play this Cynic....for an immediate profit or looking at the longterm prospects for the company or perhaps better still a third option is perhaps a free ride those that can sell 50% and keep the rest ...that sort of thing....problem is you have to watch all the time or set up some buy and sell orders....I think there is a lot more to come yet....and it will be very interesting to see what the next few rns's are going to be about....I am staying put at least for now....

required field - 16 Mar 2015 12:09 - 845 of 1468

Buys just overtaking sells now....after the initial profit taking this morning....

cynic - 16 Mar 2015 12:09 - 846 of 1468

i don't hold at the moment but am greedy enough to be tempted :-)

required field - 16 Mar 2015 12:11 - 847 of 1468

If you take a punt now....6 months down the line...you might be laughing...still very small market cap...for some reason we are getting Gunner (Arsenal holding) rns's...

greekman - 16 Mar 2015 13:11 - 848 of 1468

Hi Rf,

We often get Arsenal RNS's as they both share a similar epic so MoneyAm say there is nothing they can do.

skinny - 16 Mar 2015 13:17 - 849 of 1468

Yes - we just want their share price!

required field - 16 Mar 2015 18:58 - 850 of 1468

Doing well...makes up for my blunder on Afren a bit....
