I haven't got a forte, well not a pianoforte.

My days of doing a graveyard shift are long gone, I am happy to say.

Big Al - 11 Dec 2005 05:02 - 8382 of 24230

Yup, don't see much sunlight this time of year, Socs. ;-((

Spaceman - 11 Dec 2005 06:25 - 8383 of 24230

Whats your excuse for being up so early on a Sunday then Al?

Socrates - 11 Dec 2005 08:57 - 8384 of 24230

Spaceman
Big Al is most likely still on the graveyard shift so it's a normal nights work for him.

Just been on the phone to my nephew, he lives on 3.5 miles from the Buncefield Depot that went bang earlier. Quite a bang by all accounts. Watch the oil company and airline shares monday, be interesting to see what the effects are.

Hopefully casualties will be light.

Spaceman - 11 Dec 2005 10:15 - 8385 of 24230

Socs, just heard about Buncefield, I know it well and I know several people who work there, i hope they are OK.

Socrates - 11 Dec 2005 11:04 - 8386 of 24230

Forthose interested, the Buncefield depot is just adjacent and north west of Junction 8 of the M1.

Hi! Just popped in for lunch. ;-)))

Apparently no fatalities at Buncefield, Spacie. Seems lucky by the look of things

stockbunny - 12 Dec 2005 11:44 - 8388 of 24230

Let's hope that grey muck in the sky gets blown out to sea and dumps
it's contents there - guy on the TV said the smoke was like standing next
to an stationary exhaust pipe with the engine constantly running - doesn't
sound too healthy to me!
:>(

daves dazzlers - 12 Dec 2005 11:48 - 8389 of 24230

Is it far from u,that fire.

stockbunny - 12 Dec 2005 12:06 - 8390 of 24230

Quite a distance Dave, I'm not far from Heathrow, but we heard it Sunday
morning low muffled deep boom noise, but as there was no activity here, no
sirens etc didn't take any notice and went back to sleep! it's this smoke that
bothers me, what goes up has to come down, simple fact of nature......

daves dazzlers - 12 Dec 2005 12:15 - 8391 of 24230

Loads of soot here but that may the turk next door

on his pipe again !

Oh well quick drink before dinner.

stockbunny - 12 Dec 2005 12:58 - 8392 of 24230

LOL Dave :>)

Spaceman - 12 Dec 2005 13:21 - 8393 of 24230

Afternoon all, good to hear no fatalities at Buncefield, I hear from inside the company that I work for that they do not expect this to affect supply to retail sites (garages) but there is concern about the Airports that they supply. There are other supply routes as well so I guess they will sort it out fairly soon.

stockbunny - 12 Dec 2005 13:32 - 8394 of 24230

Seems a few people round Hemel don't believe that judging by the queues at petrol stations round there shown on the news, it's a shame the first instinct is to panic and then grab what you might need isn't it?

I was amazed when they said no casualities, someone up there was looking out for them I suppose, would have been completely different had it been Monday AM.
