Marks & Spencer £20 coming soon (MKS)

tobyboy - 05 Jun 2007 16:10

anything under 7 cheap cheap cheap. good div. just paid. chart looks sick

cynic - 13 Nov 2008 15:38 - 87 of 974

i reckon WPP is one of the safest short bets even though sp is close to its low ..... advertising, especially of the traditional sort, is guaranteed to have a really rough time in any downturn, let alone something as scary as the present horror story

Gausie - 13 Nov 2008 16:13 - 88 of 974

Cynic - agreed, however it's difficult to set a stop and a target - and so difficult to plan the trade. How have you addressed it?

cynic - 13 Nov 2008 16:25 - 89 of 974

i use CFDs, so not difficult ..... WOS is probably still worth a short too

Gausie - 13 Nov 2008 16:26 - 90 of 974

Also use cfds - what difference does that make? Still need to plan the trade then trade the plan!

cynic - 13 Nov 2008 16:36 - 91 of 974

thought for the day on the WPP thread!

mitzy - 18 Nov 2008 09:06 - 92 of 974

I am convinced they are heading to 170p.

cynic - 18 Nov 2008 10:13 - 93 of 974

you could easily be right, especially once/if 200 is broken ..... unless the "fiscal stimulus" is so exciting that there is a sudden reversal ...... (temporary) cut in VAT might have that effect

halifax - 18 Nov 2008 16:05 - 94 of 974

With a market cap of 3.2billion what are the chances of a bid after Christmas?

cynic - 18 Nov 2008 16:23 - 95 of 974

why should there be?

halifax - 18 Nov 2008 16:34 - 96 of 974

cynic we have been here before with MKS sp, with all the promised tax cuts and easier money supply coming over the horizon there are plenty of cash rich predators sitting on the sidelines ready to pounce, even Phil Green might be tempted again but at this moment 3.5 might do it rather than his last offer of 4.

cynic - 18 Nov 2008 16:55 - 97 of 974

you can always live in hope

halifax - 18 Nov 2008 17:06 - 98 of 974

unfortunately hope alone will not make money, buffet is quite right fear will make you money if you have courage and more importantly vision. Don't get bogged down worrying about today's on going bad news look ahead and invest if the time is right.

mitzy - 19 Nov 2008 09:28 - 99 of 974

Wiat a bit and you should be able to buy @170p.

cynic - 19 Nov 2008 09:57 - 100 of 974

i am contemplating shorting MKS and also ASC.
ASC has a fab record, but i truly wonder if it can keep bucking the trend ..... if it disappoints with its christmas numbers, then sp will get absolutely hammered

Gausie - 19 Nov 2008 10:42 - 101 of 974

Cynic - if the current bid of 203 breaks emphatically then I'm with you. In the meantime I'm contemplating another long. Stop 200, target 239.

Tabby - you noted an intraday price when I closed my long at 234 just under a week ago (post 85 above) with the implication that you would beat me around the head with it later to demonstrate what a dumb thing I'd done. Perhaps you and I should form a double act and call it 'dumb and dumber'?

Gausie - 19 Nov 2008 10:47 - 102 of 974

Long 204.25

Gausie - 19 Nov 2008 11:12 - 103 of 974

Added 203.25

Dil - 19 Nov 2008 11:26 - 104 of 974

Nice gap ... 240p here we come

Gausie - 19 Nov 2008 11:30 - 105 of 974

Dil - I sure hope so - but right now it doesnt look good :-( Tempted to add @ 202.25 if I get the chance - but I know I should'nt. However - buy orders look really strong between here and 200 - so maybe.

Whatever happened to tabby?

Dil - 19 Nov 2008 11:32 - 106 of 974

Probably getting shaf*ed by BJM ... everyone else is imo.
