THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Gaga, Oooh, La La!

Here you are, just in case you haven't yet seen it, Lady Gaga's fantastic 'Bad Romance' video:

Gausie - 16 Apr 2010 09:13 - 8895 of 81564

After his mention on here, I dropped Urby (the Sunday Times "Diary of a Daytrader" bloke) a note and got the following short response:

Hi Gausie,

Nice to hear from you...I miss you guy's (shit did I say that) especially that Dead Cat prick...ha ha

Yes all well this end, as I hope is with you. You can email me here xxx@xxx.COM

The dots are reminiscent of tabby. Any handwriting analysts here? is there a link between lots of dots in your posts and a tendency to blow your pot on daft trades without stops?

Blimey - how times change - "Bought BT on Thursday , 500 at 795p , everyones got a telephone so these got to be a winner." Bargain.

Dil - 16 Apr 2010 10:14 - 8899 of 81564

lol ... last post should narrow down who The Loafer is to two.

Gausie - 16 Apr 2010 10:14 - 8900 of 81564

Can't remember hightone all that well, but i think he came to a couple of meets.

I wasn't nasty to Urby - he gave me a mention in the column once too. Described me as "Gausie, a man who has not allowed his success to go to his clothes". I also once bet him 100 (for MacMillan) that he couldn't get the phrase 'Gausie Rocks!' into his LBC interview. I paid up despite him actually saying something like "I bought US stock Xerox last week, which I'm hopeful about. Go Xerox!"

Dil - 16 Apr 2010 10:17 - 8901 of 81564

lol Gausie , I told him to buy some company and hold on to it for a more than 10 minutes. It was his biggest winner of the month I think (probably only one).

I can't find the original thread , looks like it's been pulled.

greekman - 19 Apr 2010 09:53 - 8903 of 81564

Although any action taken by The Americas Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) will I am sure me harsh, the damage done to Goldman Sachs reputation (for what it was) will be far more reaching and longer lasting.
My hope is that those responsible will get jail time. The way the authorities are going in the USA I hope that 'if found guilty' that will happen.
Shame!

tabasco - 19 Apr 2010 10:29 - 8904 of 81564

Greekmanodds on Goldman will arrange a settlement with RBS [knowingly stitched ABN Amro/RBS $841ml] and others that were hitof course the condition will bethey come out of the scandal looking like Mother Teresa

partridge - 19 Apr 2010 10:31 - 8905 of 81564

It would be nice to thunk so, but I doubt it, greek. What baffles me is just how these guys make so much money in such a short space of time. Is it real money, or illusory profits based on valuations of "socially useless" products? No doubt the bonuses are real. If I was one of their clients, I would be looking hard to see how I was being ripped off big time. Guess in truth I am really just envious!

greekman - 19 Apr 2010 10:44 - 8906 of 81564

Hi Tabasco/Partridge,

You are probably right, although the USA is getting tougher on Fraud which this is.
There may also of course be institutions that take their own civil actions.

Still, it's a wait and see.

tabasco - 20 Apr 2010 11:31 - 8908 of 81564

The FSA are set to launch an immediate inquiry in co-operation with the SEC. over the Goldman 'Fraud'that should get us to a Jacques Clouseau standard?

MightyMicro - 20 Apr 2010 17:04 - 8909 of 81564

'Promiscuous women are responsible for earthquakes, a senior Iranian cleric has said.

Hojatoleslam Kazem Sedighi told worshippers in Tehran last Friday that they had to stick to strict codes of modesty to protect themselves.

"Many women who do not dress modestly lead young men astray and spread adultery in society which increases earthquakes," he said. '

Which finally gives us the answer to the age-old question "Did the Earth move . . ."

greekman - 20 Apr 2010 18:26 - 8910 of 81564

The Government is considering taking over the running of Doncaster Council.
Doncaster Councillors were described as 'venomous, vicious and vindictive' and irresponsible for widespread 'bullying and harassment' of officers, also in the late 1990's, 23 councillors were convicted of corruption and fraud over expense claims.

So a venomous, vindictive and irresponsible council whose members were found to have 'fiddled' their expenses are to be run by a department of this government that according to leaked e-mails are venomous, vicious and vindictive' and irresponsible for widespread 'bullying and harassment' and have been found to have fiddled expenses.

Pot, calling Kettle, Lunatics running Asylum comes to mind.

You really couldn't make it up.

jimmy b - 20 Apr 2010 19:00 - 8911 of 81564

Just heard on the news that Airports are having teams of Councillors standing by in case anyone needs counselling due to the trauma of flight delays.
What next, passengers being offered compensation for PTSD, bloody pathetic.
Not saying they should be denied compensation re monetary losses.
