Rockhopper was established in 2004 with a strategy to invest in and undertake an offshore oil exploration programme in the North Falkland Basin. It was floated on AIM in August 2005. Rockhopper was the first company to make a commercial oil discovery in the Falklands. Today Rockhopper is the largest acreage holder in the North Falkland Basin, with interests in the Greater Mediterranean region.

Do the math.
Chairman reckons "The Sun" was right. "The Sun" said 450M recoverable.
450M x 8.5US$ per barrel (yes just eight and a half)
That means about 1500p per share for this find.
Data out + a good flow test and it will zoom up past 1000p if that 450M estimate is correct.
So you can see why the robot AT buy trades are still flying in at 240p and they will be higher up to I would guess

Hi Proselenes,
Agreed, but MM's will no doubt be looking at the best deal they can get from the clients that matter, via the brokers of course, so just saying if it was worth say double the current sp now, the market would have pushed it up a lot higher.
I do fully agree it should continue to rise as institutions seek shares.
As to Chicken and Egg. This looks like a bloody big egg, and if the Chicken does fully hatch, well all I can say is, 'Carlsberg don't do oil wells, but if they did'.
Blimey that wines strong. Better keep away from the dealing button, I might press sell by mistake.

How you work out the gain under the 'bed and breakfasting' rule:
"If a disposal of shares is identified with shares acquired within the following 30 days, the gain or loss on disposal is the difference between the net disposal proceeds and the acquisition cost."
As you say, rf, tricky timing to avoid that.

Harry,
Spread betting is the answer.
You can also hedge if you don't want to sell the real thing.
Why not sell your shares and take out an equivalent spreadbet and hold that for 30 days or more. Then switch out into real shares again.

TT, a spike and drop like that :
Knocks out trailing stops.
Encourages some shorters to sell
Panics weak holders into selling with the fall afterwards.
Encourages long position day traders to take profits.
All for the purpose of loosening up stock to fill buy orders.

True TT, but I am personally not happy trading on margin. Things could go badly wrong & I am just about clear of debt now & not looking to change that! But it does work for many. CFD's look a tad safer, but....................

Those trading in and out not within a sipp or spread bets must be careful....imagine paying 18% between say 120p up to 180p and you haven't got the stock...ouch !....for traders it's different...
