i sold my last "piece" at a very nice profit, despite today's fall .... i'll continue holding the larger balance, which i admit is currently a bit out of the money

It's recovered well after a strong pullback. Somewhat volatile but that's the nature of the beast. I may be back here when I've got some more cash in the ISA in April.

thanks skinny .... a useful even if typically rather hedged conclusion ..... however, if the short term is bullish, that will do for me :-)

Ignoring all of the 'noise' and the massive swings etc, I'd rather be in this technology than out atm.

DDD sp seems unaffected ... another case of paid "research"?

It is difficult (for me anyway) to find decent research sources for US stocks - I'm not even sure what time they report today!!

Quantum Leap regularly recommends US stocks and has good articles accompanying .... you then pick and choose, and of course he doesn't always get in right - e.g. BLNX!!

Rolls-Royce hits ignition on next generation of engines
Rolls Royce to use 3D printing...
A new generation of more powerful, fuel-efficient, cleaner and quieter aero engines are set to burst onto the market with an added extra for airlines: rather than the usual shiny titanium, the huge 11ft diameter turbofans can be delivered in colours to match the customer’s livery.
Rolls-Royce yesterday unveiled a multibillion-pound development plan for two new engine types over the next decade which will use carbonfibre composites built by additive layer manufacturing - or 3D printing techniques to create lighter engines.

3D Systems said this morning that fourth-quarter revenue grew by 52% to $155 million, exactly what the company had guided to in its preliminary forecast earlier this month. Sales of 3-D printing products leapt by 76% in the quarter, but printing materials and other categories increased at a slower sales pace, which held back overall growth. Still, the company's gross profit margin was steady at 52% and organic growth came in stronger than expected at 34%. 3D Systems also affirmed its revenue forecast for 2014 of $700 million, which would represent a nearly 40% increase from last year's result. Shares are up 1.4% in pre-market trading.
we'll wait and see what happens next :-)
