SEFTON RESOURCES INC - UNDERRATED OIL PRODUCER (SER)

ptholden - 04 Aug 2006 19:53

???

Sefton Resources is an independent AIM quoted Oil and Gas company operating in the US. The companys principal current assets are two producing oilfields in California (Tapia Canyon Field and Eureka Canyon Field); it is also in the process of buying up prospective coal bed methane acreage (CBM) in Kansas.

Update from July 2007 AGM

Finance

I revealed in my annual statement that discussions were well advanced with
Banking institutions. The final phase of the agreement with a suitable bank
without complex and restrictive terms is now very near. This is weeks away
rather than months.

Oil

Oil production at Tapia has averaged 4,100 BO during the last five months. Which
is in line with last years levels. Once this finance is in place we will be able
to move ahead with drilling.

Drilling

We have stayed close to drilling contractors and we are ready to move forward
quickly when this finance is available.

Steam generation

The equipment is now in place at Tapia. Preparation time is needed to connect
the equipment and carry out the necessary trials required to get the main work
started. We anticipate this steaming will start in the next couple of months. If
successful a significant amount of oil resources will move into the Proven
Producing Reserves category.

Joint Ventures

Discussions continue with a number of interested parties to develop our Anderson
counties gas assets.

New finance team

A new CFO has been appointed with good knowledge and experience of the oil
industry. A new assistant to undertake all the daily needs has also been
appointed.

SWOT ANALYSIS

STRENGTHS:

Sefton has two oil fields, both producing. One is already profitable, and the other is breaking even. This should generate good cashflow for the company over the medium term.
Sefton owns 100% of both its major oil interests and is now demerging its non-controlled oil interests in order to concentrate on those where it has full control (Sefton has recently disposed of its Canadian assets for CDN450k cash).
Sefton is establishing a track record of using modern extraction technologies to improve the efficiency of its fields.

WEAKNESSES:

Sefton has suffered from a number of one-off factors. While these were out of the companys control the problems it has faced since 2002 have held back development and taken up management time. Investor disenchantment may account for the current low rating.

OPPORTUNITIES:

Sefton has acquired acreage for CBM (coal bed methane) in Kansas. CBM gas production is a thriving market and Sefton believes it has acquired the acreage at advantageous prices. While this is a longer term prospect it is an exciting one and could eventually eclipse the oil interests.
There are a number of other fields in the Ventura Basin and more generally in California as a whole that Sefton may look to target now its cash flows are stronger.
Eureka is a semi-exploration play which may contain further upside. This cannot yet be evaluated.
At this valuation the company may prove an attractive target for a larger player.

THREATS

Owing to its geographical location the company continues to be exposed to the threat of bush fires, canyon floods and geological interruption (earthquake risk). Sefton is taking steps to mitigate this risk by investing in Kansas and although Forest Basin area is susceptible to tornados - gas facilities have a minimal surface footprint.

Gray, see you've had the "treatment" lol! What on earth has happened to friendly banter. A BB doesn't have to revolve around just the company, it can and imo should, have an element of comradeship, general discussion etc. Over the past two years, I have built a small list of the people I can trust when it comes to passing on tips etc, in the knowledge that they aren't ramps in order for that person to get out. I know when, for example, you, Quinan, Moonshine, Secrouser, MickeyTake, JJ and others give me a tip, it's in good faith and can be trusted. This sort of relationship takes time to build and wouldn't evolve by just discussing Sefton. The liveliness of the thread depends on personality, humour and off topic discussion. The particular post you had deleted was of general interest and should have remained. I know you to be a respectable contributor to the bulletin boards, I can appreciate how you feel being moderated.

The other side has a few particularly unpleasant entities that have firmed my decision to refrain from ever going there again.

PTHolden is going (in process) to update the header, I hope this BB will start to develop in a far friendlier, better quality and more informative manner than what we have experienced recently!

G'day all! Just managed to get internet connection, spent the weekend moving. Unbelievably, BT managed to disconnect and reconnect at my new address AND the broadband worked when I plugged it in!

I was hoping to log on today and see 6p or something! Oh well, back to watching and waiting :O(

SECRUOSER - 31 Jul 2007 11:25 - 915 of 2350

Morning Mine Man.

O/T, are you still in BLR? Picked some up Friday and yesterday for these Acacia drilling results.

Mine Man - 31 Jul 2007 12:41 - 916 of 2350

Hi Sec, no, I wheedled a nice little profit out and did a runner. Have decided to take more profit more often after sitting waiting for SER for two years lol!

SECRUOSER - 31 Jul 2007 14:24 - 917 of 2350

Well i've emailed GD and DM 3 times asking about the apparent discrepency between the RNS and the more recent website update re finance, and have not received any reply.

Lets hope the reason is that news on such is imminent (dictionary definition not JE definition!).

pianoman - 31 Jul 2007 14:34 - 918 of 2350

Tick Tock, Tick Tock

I did say there would be no news within weeks.

SECRUOSER - 01 Aug 2007 15:36 - 919 of 2350

Finally had a reply from GD. Nowt to worry about - everything on track as per AGM statement.

kkeith2000 - 01 Aug 2007 15:42 - 920 of 2350

Good to hear SECRUOSER

NabCom - 01 Aug 2007 15:52 - 921 of 2350

Yep - thanks for that

moonshine - 02 Aug 2007 09:27 - 922 of 2350

Morning all. Not too much action recently, but the oil price will be beneficial to SER, considering that for the first six months they were receiving $55 per barrel. We are now within weeks of the steam generator being commissioned, and pilot testing commencing. Getting interesting again.

Like the header updates, pt. Also your Technical Analysis thread is very interesting.

Mine Man - 02 Aug 2007 12:10 - 923 of 2350

Hi all! In the middle of moving so not having a lot of time to get online. Quite a few people seem to comment that the price of oil has no effect on Sefton, but the past 6 months they will have increased the cash at bank giving them more spending power to put things in place for the looming steaming to start, and perhaps advance other projects that may have needed to wait until full finance was in place.

Since consolidation, there are not really that many shares in issue now, so if the news really does bring the Hardman report into credibility, that fact could be responsible for a much larger than expected rise in the SP as people are clamouring for shares!

SECRUOSER - 02 Aug 2007 12:35 - 924 of 2350

Hi Mine Man,

We are now 3.5 weeks into the 'weeks, not months' period, so by my reckoning we are probably over half way there.

Good luck with the move.

Mine Man - 02 Aug 2007 13:06 - 925 of 2350

Cheers SEC. At least I have an internet connection at the new house! It's an old cottage and I have just discovered none of the divan bed bases fit up the staircase, 4 new beds on orded lol! I'll need at least 15p on the SP to cover the cost of this move!

capetown - 02 Aug 2007 13:52 - 926 of 2350

Mineman i have sleeping bags u can have, worried we may be waiting longtime for ser

Mine Man - 02 Aug 2007 15:00 - 927 of 2350

Thanks lol! Think I will wait though, I remain confident we will be into double figures quite rapidly once we get the finance RNS and still believe the higher doubles, not 10p!
