Opto
Got back to 1712 but info a bit sparse. I'm trying to sort out a family who lived in Little Thurlow but I suspect I will have to visit Suffolk in order to sort it out.

That's a long way back. Must get a bit difficult from now on, as you say local visits must be needed to follow the links.
Going off line now see you soon and good searching.

Nice to JGP in the house.
Thought for the day
What It Means To Be British:
One of the British national daily newspapers is asking readers
"What it means to be British?" Some of the emails are hilarious but this
is one from a chap in Switzerland...
Being British is about driving in a German car to an Irish pub for
A Belgian beer, then traveling home, grabbing an Indian curry or a
Turkish kebab on the way, to sit on Swedish furniture and watch American
shows on a Japanese TV.
And, when they are overseas, in trying to be popular, they pretend to be
Irish.
And the most British thing of all?
Suspicion of anything foreign.

I have had some fun with the washing machine.
At the start of the Christmas holliday and a month out of warrenty it started a death rattle when at 1200 spin. This bad behaviour stopped immediately after the New Year holiday. Today it decided not to pump any water out. Now, after 'hours' dismantling the thing amid floods of dirty soapy water I discovered an iron girder in the pump. This item had worked its way out of Nunber 1 daughter's bra and had spent a month or so working its way out of the drum and down into the pump!
I promised her that I would only tell a few select poeple this tale - all my friends, relatives and people I happen to meet. Well one has to get some compensation for a frustrating evening and having children!!
