Rockhopper was established in 2004 with a strategy to invest in and undertake an offshore oil exploration programme in the North Falkland Basin. It was floated on AIM in August 2005. Rockhopper was the first company to make a commercial oil discovery in the Falklands. Today Rockhopper is the largest acreage holder in the North Falkland Basin, with interests in the Greater Mediterranean region.

I reached retirement age 65 last month and was waiting for my commuted Lump Sum from the final salary pension scheme i belonged to and the money only reached me today!--i had tipped these shares to an old friend of mine who bght 10,000 for his SIIP pension fund a few weeks ago at --yes--39p !!!--he was over the moon today and couldn't believe his eyes when he saw the shares leap up again after thursday and fridays performance!!--he asked me whether i had bght when i tipped them to him and i had to say --NO--because i was waiting for my Lump Sum to come through!!--i was going to buy 10,000 's worth of shares at around 40p but was unable to then but it is now obviously too late!!--as they say--having cash at the right time is imperative to taking advantage of shares when they are oversold which RKH certainly were when they hit @40p a few weeks ago !!-ah well--on to the next one --any ideas anyone!!-

More news in a week to ten days perhaps.

http://www.ukcitymedia.co.uk/news/fullstory.php?id=313

Meanwhile, offshore the Falklands at Rockhopper Exploration Ocean Guardian rig, test samples from recent drillings have shown to be oil, suggested a good quality crude oil reservoir. The Wireline testing of 14/10-2 well on the Sea Lion prospect in the North Falkland Basin also indicated a possibility of two separate oil columns with a suggestion of no oil water contacts or water sands.

Rockhopper managing director Samuel Moody commented We will now wait for confirmation of the quality of the fluid as a result of the laboratory analysis, and continue our review of the data gathered from the well." The company is now to suspend the well pending further testing and intends to make a further announcement which could be within a week to ten days.

blueface, my 'with profits' pension scheme is with Equitable Life (not yet at retirement age), so am sitting on a worthless pot which is going nowhere! Count yourself lucky you have a decent pension!
Thank goodness for RKH!

HARRYCAT - 10 May 2010 15:36 - 922 of 6294

mitzy - 10 May 2010 15:47 - 925 of 6294

This could possibly go to 600p.

required field - 10 May 2010 15:49 - 926 of 6294

It won't...be prepared for he pullback sooner or later...this is still all in the air....

Proselenes - 10 May 2010 15:53 - 927 of 6294

mitzy, with a good flow test and confirmation of size......

170M barrels and it will go to 600p

340M barrels and it will go to 1200p

Sit back and enjoy the ride here...... all the data says it will flow....... excellent permeability and pressure.

required field - 10 May 2010 15:59 - 928 of 6294

No testing...they will come back later....that's the problem.....it will peak and then profit taking will kick in...Proselenes...you are better at this game than I am but take some profit at some stage .....

Proselenes - 10 May 2010 16:04 - 929 of 6294

I think they might delay Ernest spud and come back after FOGL's drill to test Sea Lion.

Lets see what the next update says.

Churn the data, do the lab work, work everything out in the next few weeks, then get the rig back to test Sea Lion ahead of Ernest spud..... could well be.

Flow test + data = big big rise potential

cynic - 10 May 2010 16:07 - 930 of 6294

robstuff - 10 May 2010 16:25 - 931 of 6294

markymar - 10 May 2010 16:33 - 932 of 6294

rob the rides just started

mitzy - 10 May 2010 16:41 - 933 of 6294

Its the only game in town right now.

Mr Turbot - 10 May 2010 17:33 - 934 of 6294

Hi Cynic,

According to the RockHopper website, Ernest is located approx 59w 50s, and although not shown on the map above would be just west of the fields shown as Dawn and Jacinta belonging to Desire Petroleum.

On website is a 90 page Competent Person's Report on Rockhopper. Huge document dated April 09. Very interesting; albeit possibly out of date based on latest findings. documenthttp://www.rockhopperexploration.co.uk/pdf/RPS_Rockhopper_CPR.pdf

Mr Turbot - 10 May 2010 17:49 - 935 of 6294

Cynic, further to my earlier post - I meant east of the field, not west. Caught up in the exitement of today, don't know which direction to look!
