THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Will Squelch Gausie and Tabasco to see if that improves anything.
It is a shame that tabasco has been drawn into this childish argument.
From his many previous post (weeks ago) I though he would be above such pathetic nonsense.
I would have answered Gausie once (not going down to his level). I would also have reported him, then squelched him after giving him a chance to apologize, and left it at that.
After squelching, I will see if that works before leaving this thread for a few weeks at least.

Note... Gausie should have been banned ages ago due to his personal insults that often went way over what MoneyAm states are it's conditions of posting content.
It is OK being liberal, but I am disappointed that they have allowing so many Gausie posts to stand.
I thought their standards were higher than those of several competitors.

tabasco - 16 Aug 2010 07:55 - 9433 of 81564

I must apologise again Greek I will take your criticism on the chinand except for the time beingthis thread is damagedAM is a good site and Michael seems to be a fair personin answer to you post Gausie will never get bannedhe has posted up AM would not and could not say anything blah blahhe is not a Director but talks as if he is in chargehe threatened Clubby telling himClubby you have gone to far we have your home address and can send someone to see you at any time so watch your back.

How can you let that carry onI would like to know from an ex. Policemans point of view?

aldwickk - 16 Aug 2010 07:59 - 9434 of 81564

Greekman

You have summed it up spot on ... there seems to be double standards here at MoneyAm for reasons best known to them.

Gausie - 16 Aug 2010 08:17 - 9435 of 81564

Tabby - your claims are pure fantasy.

dealerdear - 16 Aug 2010 08:33 - 9436 of 81564

Have any of you realised how ridiculous you all sound?

Like a kids spat in a playground.

Perhaps you should take a step back and ask yourselves why you feel it necessary to post all through the weekend desperately trying not to lose face/wind each other up when in fact most of us mere mortals were out and about enjoying ourselves with friends and family.

Christ, thank god I don't suffer from the level of insecurity and paranoia that some of you do.

greekman - 16 Aug 2010 08:48 - 9437 of 81564

Well said, Aldwickk/Dealerdear.

A Rip off or what.

Saga Vehicle Insurance.

With 3 month less 3 days of cover left on my car insurance, I canceled my policy as I have disposed of the vehicle.
The refund amount was 51.50p. After 3 weeks I checked why my refund had not been received.
I was informed that it had not been sent due to an admin error, but I would receive 1.50p within a few days, as they were charging me a 50 cancellation fee. They reminded me that it was in their policy conditions. I am a bit of a fanatic when it comes to reading the small print, but who reads cancellation charge details when they think they will not be canceling.
So Saga charge just over 50% of the 97.50p basic state pension to cover what in generous terms would be no more than 15 mins clerical/admin work.
I used to work in Insurance so I know how little time it takes to cancel a policy.
I expected to receive less than 3 months premium back, but the amount charged is ridiculous.
What a rip off.
Never again will I give my business to this company.

Note... On a certain review site, I have rarely seen a company receive such low ratings on just about every department, from customer service to high cancellation charges. (1.4 out of 5 from 53 reviews).
So if you are considering insurance with Saga, beware.

dealerdear - 17 Aug 2010 10:58 - 9441 of 81564

I agree 100% but I think it is fairly standard.

I'm with Swinton and I think their cancellation charge is 50 as well.

hodgins - 17 Aug 2010 11:16 - 9442 of 81564

We have a daughter just turned 17 and beginning driving. We downsized one car to reduce future premiums. A previous company we used would not cover a 17 year old when we asked back in February when the policy was due for renewal. At that stage we did an online dummy quote for a seventeen year old and RAC (or whoever underwrites them) quoted as well as anyone. We then took a policy with RAC with verbal assurances that we would be able to add the seventeen year old to the policy when she turned seventeen for a similar quote. Last Friday we attempted to follow up on this but RAC now refuse to cover a seventeen year old. We have made a complaint and so far they are listening to the tapes from back then and we are still waiting to hear but would allege that we were sold insurance under false pretences. Now, I know that young drivers have a dreadful record but if you think about it is quite dismal that RAC, supposedly an organisation representing drivers will not offer insurance to this category of drivers.

tyketto - 17 Aug 2010 11:29 - 9443 of 81564

Both the RAC and Saga were taken over a couple
of years ago. They are obviously maximising (scr*wing)
their customers on the good reputations of the
original owners.

I kicked Saga into touch a year ago.

Bullshare - 17 Aug 2010 11:51 - 9444 of 81564

Hodgkins; I added my 17 years old to my wifes car through Admiral, no problem. Insurance though went up from 230 to 800 fully comp!!

kimoldfield - 17 Aug 2010 12:34 - 9445 of 81564

I told my 17 year old that it was illegal for any teenager to drive their parents' car.

kimoldfield - 17 Aug 2010 12:34 - 9446 of 81564

My cunning plan lasted for about 10 seconds by the way! :o)
