Good morning all, bright and crisp day here in the Cotswolds.

Just had a look at my portfolio, shock horror. LLOY up 25p yesterday! I'm not used to such things, must have mistakenly bought at the right time.

Spaceman - 25 Feb 2006 11:14 - 9543 of 24230

Socs, wow, I always thought the idea was buy a share and sell it some time later when the price was lower and use the money lost as a reminder about how bad I am at stare trading?

You seem to have hit upon a different and very interesting strategy? !

Socrates - 25 Feb 2006 14:50 - 9544 of 24230

Spacie - Believe me, it's a novelty for me too. I do seem to have struck lucky with LLOY though, I had no idea they would show improved figures, I was hoping for that or that the rumoured takeover might materialise. Still might of course.

Just had lunch, Chinese, again.

Socrates - 26 Feb 2006 10:34 - 9545 of 24230

Stockmarket very quiet today, I think I'll go back to sleep. ZZZZzzzz..........

jj50 - 26 Feb 2006 10:39 - 9546 of 24230

OK Socs, FEB cooking, kettle on ... the sun's out ...

optomistic - 26 Feb 2006 10:47 - 9547 of 24230

Never very busy on a Sunday Socco!
Pot of tea would be very nice jj, will give the Guinness a miss...........for an hour
:-)

Socrates - 26 Feb 2006 11:03 - 9548 of 24230

Rugby! ZZZzzzzzz.......

Somebody mention tea? I'm up for that.

Good morning JJ and Opto, so nice to have some company on a Sunday morning.

Just had a lovely time going through some photos e-mailed to me by my little boy and his wife, currently in India. Did I say little, he's 36! The sun seems to shine out there, a bit.

Now I must get down to some family research on the genealogy sites, good fun finding out what ones ancestors were about. Farmers, gentlemen, paupers! Sounds familiar.

optomistic - 26 Feb 2006 11:04 - 9549 of 24230

Socco's gone to sleep.
jj's gone to rugby.
I've gone to make dinner.
Bye all.

optomistic - 26 Feb 2006 11:04 - 9550 of 24230

Ah Socco's woke up, morning Socco.

Socrates - 26 Feb 2006 11:21 - 9551 of 24230

Morning Opto. My eyes are going crossed, I'm trying to read a will from 1753 and it might as well have been written in a foreign language, got the gist of it though.

optomistic - 26 Feb 2006 11:28 - 9552 of 24230

Yes it does look a bit odd, sure with practise it will become easier to read. Hope you get 'a mention' .............you never know you may own a castle :-)

Socrates - 26 Feb 2006 11:35 - 9553 of 24230

No chance of that Opto, money seems to have disappeared in past generations.

optomistic - 26 Feb 2006 11:39 - 9554 of 24230

Never mind Socco, you have got LLOY. Where do you think they are going from here? seem a bit heady now to me.

Socrates - 26 Feb 2006 11:53 - 9555 of 24230

Don't know Opto, they have been rising towards the results and on bid speculation. Results seem to have been better than expected and that may encourage more speculation. I'll watch for a couple of days and then make my mind up. Meanwhile a tight stop loss seems to be the ticket.

Socrates - 26 Feb 2006 11:59 - 9556 of 24230

Must pop out for a mo, back later.
