Borrowed Renaissance Capital Research Alert issued
:
Scale of resources largely unchanged. VOG also said today that an
updated DeGolyer & MacNaughton report confirmed 1bn boe of gross resources
for West Medvezhye. D&M had previously estimated that the other 26 identified
structures in the acreage could harbour prospective resources of 5.3 tcf (883mn
boe) of gas and 164mn bbls of liquids. The risked best estimate of these
resources is 1.0 tcf (168mn boe) and 31.5mn bbls.
Target price update. Excluding Danniella from the resource base barely
alters VOGs valuation. Based on Novateks 2010 EV/production rating, a
150 bcm prospect from which 4 bcm of gas production might be achieved is worth
an estimated and marked-to-market 3.74p/share today. This allows for the
funding gap to actually get there. Our mini-DCF still indicates that such an outturn is worth GBPp407/share.
The midpoint, 3.90, is our updated target price, up from 3.16 previously, mainly on account of Novateks recent performance.
Buy the weakness. While todays share price plunge is a stark reminder of
the risks associated with junior exploration plays, VOG seems to be pricing-in
failure at the current price of 1.05.
This represents around $6.5/bbl for VOGs 2P oil reserves in Kazakhstan. Hence, the very large gas upside now comes for "free". VOGs EV/resources of $0.20/boe is less than one-fifteenth of Novateks current EV/reserves multiple, so we see a good risk/reward here.

With all these new oil /gas wells, have any of them got a production date, maybe this is part of the trouble with this stock, investors want some certainty of near term cashflows.
Even the oil stocks that are producing are not being bought and are seriously undervalued; it is a pain in the arse, but to get out would be a big mistake
as i found out when i first sold NOP after losing patience, the stock doubled about a month later.
As long as the fundamentals are good we just have to put up with this frustrating market. I haven't invested in VOG but i know this stock is going to rocket one day.

Soul no problem, apologies from myself also.
barclay, today was a good time to jump and wet that beak of yours with VOG,
At 72.% discount to the February 274p levels I think, realistically the fall is massively overdone, and a turnaround is as near as you can get. (full 2.00 discount to recent high).
What every thread and investorjon has been waiting for, start of a cool rally from tomorrow. If not it has to be very close.
The Upside is incredible from 80p.

Down and down we go !
Would like to think this is seen as a buying opportunity.. but not taking the risk this time... the last time was 170p when i thought it couldn't go down any further and then it dived big time!.... looks like there's still more drops to come.

My (faulty) memory says, insofar as charts have any value, support should be around 84 and unless the break below is quickly corrected the next support is around 50

sorry to be a prophet of gloom, but as i have mentioned elsewhere, the markets have been defying gravity and ignoring the gravity of the situation in M/E ...... i do not see any sustainable recovery, and probably just continuing falls until the lunatics come to their collective senses, though that will be some weeks of at best ...... it is certainly not impossible that a terrifying escalation is just waiting around the corner .... perhaps perversely, even gold has reacted $50 from its recent highs, so that may be worth a dabble if investing in something is irresistible (or Swiss francs?) ...... the charts for the indices are also worth a look insofar as they have an almost self-fulfilling logic to them.

interestingly, i note that NASDAQ 100 has again just hit an important support level at 1450 ...... may be worth buying for a bounce with a tight stop say no more than 10/15 points below and consider shorting anyway below 1450, with tight stops above.
