Rockhopper was established in 2004 with a strategy to invest in and undertake an offshore oil exploration programme in the North Falkland Basin. It was floated on AIM in August 2005. Rockhopper was the first company to make a commercial oil discovery in the Falklands. Today Rockhopper is the largest acreage holder in the North Falkland Basin, with interests in the Greater Mediterranean region.

re - So Master you think wait till tom to buy maybe? its dropping now.

tomorrow is another day, but without further news, investors ( maybe punters ) are taking profits and large too.

profit taking takes more than just a day also, so all depends of how much is on each day and if more news come along, there is going to be pull backs one way or another, but also remember the 183p retracement is only one step, next is 156p, and so on.

cynic - 11 May 2010 17:31 - 978 of 6294

on the other hand, with confidence returning to the market with the end of the political quadrille, then it's anyone's call, with the odds now surely favouring (imo) a reversal of today's losses here

Master RSI - 11 May 2010 17:52 - 979 of 6294

Fibonacci retracement
Below prices at which point are posible bouncing back territory 184p, 156p, 128p, 88p,
the best bounce back is 61.8% retracement = 128p

i am sure you are right in your analysis, but i am sure you would also agree that charts are only a tool and certainly not remotely self-fulfilling

Further 690,000 new ordinary shares of 1p each in the Company ("Ordinary Shares") at an exercise price of 54p per share.
Back of fag packet calculation. As they already have 174,084,954 Ordinary Shares in issue, this will be a dilution of about 1/300th.
But no doubt the doom mongers will be making something big out of it.

Balerboy - 11 May 2010 19:35 - 982 of 6294

I'm no doom monger...just a realist, until there's more good news the sp will settle lower. Cynic has rose tinted glasses on along with the other ramper on here....not marky I hasten to add.

halifax - 11 May 2010 20:06 - 983 of 6294

good news next week?

cynic - 11 May 2010 20:19 - 984 of 6294

not particularly Emu, but i am happy to sit with what i hold, and if i happen to be proved right, i shall of course be delighted

As I said in post #958 : "Next RNS will be between 17th & 19th May when drill rig is released. Then RNS with results of lab tests of core samples. Any idea how long lab tests usually take?"
Can anyone answer the question, as news releases are likely to move the sp considerably, imo.

markymar - 11 May 2010 23:11 - 986 of 6294

Master thank you for taking time out and posting your thoughts and hope you keep popping over and adding to the thread as I have a lot of respect for your knowledge and analyst over the many years of following you.

I see the last candle was a reversal which usually means the sellers were in charge (people taking profits) so will be keeping a close eye on things as cash there sitting and waiting to buy in on weakness.

Balerboy I hope youre not getting a soft spot for me!!!! I have been selling in drips all day in Desire not because I dont believe they have the best prospect as I do and its early days in a long campaign which I think will be extended.

Desire will not be drilling until September time which means RKH are in the driving seat and I suspect there is a lot more news to come out in the near future and the drilling of Ernest which has a better than 4 in 1 chance to be a successful adding even greater reserves and I suspect possible new partners and new targets drilled at a later stage.

FOGL worth a small punt but totally different geology and it might as well be in Timbuktu 2 as not proven at all.

Rig move I would think Sunday for FOGL and will take 5 to 6 days and I would like to think RKH more news within a week tops a flow test for RKH.EAR IS ON THE GROUNG would like to think after FOGL release the rig if not after Ernest is drilled.makes sense as gives Desire more time to decide where to drill from all the samples taken..then maybe switch big time back into Desire

What i hold in RKH at moment i hold till Ernest drill far to risky buying or selling as news could be any time on a number of factors which are ongoing and can alter the share price in pounds not pennys.

Thats the plan but its changing as the campaign changes

Balerboy - 11 May 2010 23:26 - 987 of 6294

As I said, I am expecting this to be classed as 450M recoverable potential.

This will move the 170M = 600p up to being 450M = 1550p per share at a notional 8.5$ per barrel valuation.

You do not want to be out when the official notice comes around, it will be interesting to see how much the "large increase" is - I am expecting 450M barrels recoverable, but lets wait and see.

Rockhopper Exploration, up more than 400 per cent in the past week, lost 11 per cent to 195p on profit taking. However, late in the session, there was talk the Falklands explorer could announce a large increase in reserves at its Sea Lion prospect next week.

Analysts have been valuing Sea Lion on the assumption that it contains 170m barrels of oil. Desire Petroleum, off 13 per cent at 82p, was also hit by profit taking.

Balerboy - 12 May 2010 07:54 - 990 of 6294

It's also possible that the next news is already priced in....until we have black stuff coming out of the ground and the space ships organised to take it away...IMO...little will change..

Balerboy - 12 May 2010 07:54 - 991 of 6294

.

cynic - 12 May 2010 07:59 - 992 of 6294

hey, go and find your own special transport!
actually, you aren't entirely right .... though it is true to say that real value cannot be realised until everything comes on stream, if the underlying value of the reserves is this arbitrary 600p, then i would hazard that at this juncture +/-400p would be fair value - i.e. a discount of about 30%

Balerboy - 12 May 2010 08:09 - 993 of 6294

LOL. only quoting you my friend......

cynic - 12 May 2010 08:14 - 994 of 6294

doh! you thought i wouldn't notice?
perhaps dirigibles will suffice in falklands as they can also be used as barrage balloons should the argies get overexcited
anyway, good to see sp recovering nicely, though it's very early in proceedings
